Years ago, my mom babysat a little girl named [name_f]Aislyn[/name_f]. She was dating the little girls grandpa and they were getting ready to get married. It didnt workout with that guy and my mom, but i was sooo in love with the name [name_f]Aislyn[/name_f]. At the time i was only 15. But it stuck with me. I found the name Kierslyn because I feel weird taking that little girls name even tho shes a grown women by now. I love the sound of it so much. But ive seen people online make fun of it. Its like [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f] but Kirslyn. I would prefer it spelled like Kirslyn no âeâ but I worry it would be pernouced Curse-lyn. Is this a dumb name? Its derived from the name [name_f]Kirsi[/name_f] which means [name_f]Cherry[/name_f] or [name_m]Frost[/name_m] in Fennish. [name_f]Lyn[/name_f] meaning lake, so the name could mean frost lake or cherry lake. I havenât been unable to have kids, so its nice in some weird way for me to come up with names. But I love the name Kirslyn [name_f]Elyse[/name_f]. [name_f]Kirsi[/name_f] for short. Appreciate your thoughts
To me personally, the spelling looks a little off and I do think it would cause confusion between other names like [name_f]Kristen[/name_f], Kieryn, and [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f]. It does look like a made up name (not necessarily a bad thing, but something to keep in mind about how other people will perceive it.) Itâs not a name I like, but the meaning is gorgeous and it sounds like you really love it! (Actually, I prefer [name_f]Kirsi[/name_f] on her own. I think she has a whimsical and sweet sound!)
I think that the Kirslyn spelling would probably get pronounced KEER-slyn (that was my first instinct), but I do under stand how some people would look at Kirslyn and see KUR-slyn. It might take a couple pronunciation corrections, but I donât really think it should be an issue.
(For a third note, you can totally use the name [name_f]Aislyn[/name_f]! I wouldnât it consider it stealing at all, if anything it would be a compliment to her that you love her name!)
Thanks so much! I appreciate your kind feedback. But i cant seem to get this name out of my head! (Kierslyn) Lol! The other problem is my husbandâs SIL has a little girl named Keira, so Im unsure if itd be a little too close to her name with the âKeerâ beginning and all. I think the name Aislyn wouldnt be good because theirs a lot of bad ties with her family now. I probably will never see her again. Its more Im not sure how my mom would feel. She was pretty close with her and I know she misses her. So Aislyn is still kinda out of the question.
But Ill keep looking for sure
Thanks again! <3
Kierslyn has quite a nice sound and feels like it could fit in with the likes of Jazlyn, Raelyn, Oaklyn, Emberlyn, Gracelyn, Kinsley etc.
I do think Kierslyn would more likely be pronounced as you want it first time, though I do like Kirslyn a little more? You could try asking people around you, to get a better idea.
Kirsi is very cute though I like that almost more but I understand why you like the -lyn at the end
I love the [name_m]Kier[/name_m] sound. [name_m]Kyrie[/name_m], [name_f]Kirra[/name_f], [name_f]Kirrily[/name_f], and [name_m]Kiernan[/name_m] (b) are names I often recommend.
Am not bowled over by Kierslyn though. I think itâs the -âslynâ part. I personally would prefer just [name_f]Kirsi[/name_f] or Kierson nn [name_f]Kirsi[/name_f].
But overall, I find [name_m]Kier[/name_m] names rather magical!
I second the pp above. The [name_m]Kier[/name_m] sound is lovely, but the ending throws me off. Theyâll be in for a lifetime of mispronunciation and spelling mistakes. [name_f]Kirsi[/name_f] [name_f]Elyse[/name_f] is lovely!
