[name]Jasper[/name] and [name]Lola[/name]. I know they’re NB favorites- but I hate them. With the fiery passion of a thousand suns. There are a lot of names that I think improve upon hearing over and over, just not these. For me, anyway. I also really dislike [name]Brody[/name] and [name]Clara[/name].
[name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Maeve[/name] because they just sounds so old and I don’t really see the appeal. And I’m getting really sick of hearing anything with ayden/aiden or any other variation of that ending.
Other than the obvious (made-up ayden/aiden type names, [name]Nevaeh[/name], etc.)…
[name]Adam[/name]. It’s forever ruined for me due to a couple of actual persons with this name, or a variant so similar, in the case of one. I will never see this as more than an egotistical jerk, bully, and obscenely vain person.
As for ones without the “forever ruined” factor? [name]Greer[/name]. I think it sounds hideously ugly, regardless of gender.
For me, [name]Jacob[/name]. I absolutely cannot stand the sound of it and it seems like every little boy these days is yet-another-[name]Jacob[/name]. I will also toss [name]Brody[/name], [name]Brady[/name], and [name]Grady[/name] to the flames. I find these very grating on the ear. For girls, any “-ella” name but especially [name]Gabriella[/name], which I find to be probably the ugliest-sounding name ever when given the nickname [name]Gabby[/name], which is totally not cute.
[name]Jackson[/name]/[name]Jack[/name] - I am so tired of this name
[name]Olivia[/name]/[name]Olive[/name] - not a fan at all!
[name]Delilah[/name]/[name]Lilah[/name] - rubs me the wrong way!
[name]Maddy[/name] - So sick and tired of this nn!
I know it’s really popular, but [name]Arianna[/name] just rubs me the wrong way… which is weird because I love [name]Aria[/name]. Unexplainable. I wish I loved it because my mother’s name is [name]Ann[/name] and [name]Arianna[/name] would be the perfect way to pair [name]Aria[/name] and [name]Ann[/name]. Grr!
Besides the obvious crazy “What where they thinking” names; Ava, Violet, & Eliza.
I know they’re so popular on here but if I never saw those names again I wouldn’t even be slightly sad.Ava reminds me of dust, not sure why but because of that I really dislike it. Violet is WAY too close to Violent, it just doesn’t sound pretty. Eliza is just… really bad. All I imagine is a chain smoking old lady who yells from her porch all day, I’ve even met adorable Eliza’s but even they couldn’t sway my dislike of the name. I usually don’t even comment when I see these names on a post that’s how much I dislike them.
For boys the only one I can think of is Oliver, Ollie is adorable but I can’t stand the name Oliver. I think it’s the “liver” part that turns me off either way I don’t like it.
OMG! i thought i was the only person who thought [name]Violet[/name]/Violent! I cant see it without misreading it slightly or hear it without thinking…wait?
and same with [name]Oliver[/name]! the liver part!
i dont know what my problem with [name]Eliza[/name] is just dont like it
and same with [name]Ava[/name]. none of them are ‘kill it with fire’ names for me but i was so excited lol to find someone who had the same thoughts/associations as me!! haha!
a name i really dont like… [name]Enid[/name] and [name]Agnes[/name]. I don’t think they will ever [name]EVER[/name] be able to be revived. (love author enid blyton though!! just not her name!). [name]Agnes[/name] i actually quite like [name]Aggie[/name]! but [name]Agnes[/name] no… and similar vein is [name]Agatha[/name] another no for me.
[name]Trinity[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Christian[/name] all seem excessively christian to me! worse if they’re paired with an equally religious middle name eg [name]Trinity[/name] [name]Faith[/name] Last Name or [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Faith[/name] Last Name. i actually think [name]Faith[/name] is a cute name but with a super christian/catholic first name i’m not a fan! i’m not trying to take a dig at religion here i just feel using somebodys name to express your faith is going a bit too far and there is nothing wrong if your child grows up to leavve the religion you dont need to use their name to ‘rope them in!’. Sorry if thats harsh it just gets on my nerves a lot!!
I don’t think I have any names that I hate that much. I of course don’t like misspelled names and some made up names, but I don’t hate them that much.
I do however think that certain names should die down in popularity, like the name [name]Nevaeh[/name]. I recently saw names like Nevaehly and Nevaehlynn, which just look awful to me.
