I have six names that I’m trying to decide between. I would love to hear what you think of them. I’ve gone over and over them with my husband and he’s sick of talking about it. I don’t know why, but it never bores me!!
I have one son named [name]Jesse[/name] [name]Valentino[/name]. What goes best with his name? Our last name is Altomari.
[name]Simon[/name] [name]Anthony[/name] Altomari – love [name]Simon[/name], but not thrilled with the nickname [name]Sy[/name]. I love how [name]Jesse[/name] & [name]Simon[/name] sound together, though.
[name]Milo[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] Altomari – I was crazy about [name]Milo[/name], but it’s starting to fade for some reason. My husband still likes it though.
[name]Oscar[/name] [name]Maxwell[/name] Altomari – I think [name]Oscar[/name] is my favorite, but I think [name]Jesse[/name] & [name]Oscar[/name] sound kind of weird together.
[name]Max[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] Altomari (not sure about the middle) – [name]Max[/name] is great, but I feel like this is really popular, even though I only know of one [name]Max[/name]. I’m afraid it might be a little boring, but I love the way it sounds with my last name.
[name]Oliver[/name] ? Altomari – My husband likes this one, I’m so-so. Would love to hear what you think.
[name]Blake[/name] [name]Anthony[/name] Altomari – I think [name]Blake[/name] & [name]Jesse[/name] sound great together, but I’m not sure how much substance the name [name]Blake[/name] has.
Is there a standout on my list that I’m just not seeing?

They’re all great combinations and lovely names. I like all of them except [name]Max[/name] [name]Joseph[/name], which strikes my ear as a bit abrupt.
However, none of them have the sheer coolness factor of your first son’s name. [name]Jesse[/name] [name]Valentino[/name] has some [name]Wild[/name] [name]West[/name] devilry, rock star cool, fashionable sophistication and Old Hollywood glamor all rolled into one.
Would you be willing to try a similarly hip middle name? Something like:

I love [name]Milo[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name], and I think this goes beautifully with [name]Jesse[/name] [name]Valentino[/name]. I also really like [name]Oscar[/name], and I think it goes quite well with [name]Jesse[/name], though perhaps not as well as [name]Milo[/name]. You also mention [name]Max[/name] as a first name - would you use that as his full name or go with [name]Maxwell[/name]? I really like [name]Maxim[/name] as a way to the nn [name]Max[/name], a little more unexpected and short enough to use as a name on its own without always using a nn. Perhaps [name]Maxim[/name] [name]Oscar[/name]?

[name]How[/name] about [name]Miles[/name] instead of [name]Milo[/name]? I really like [name]Simon[/name] [name]Anthony[/name] a lot, and I’ve never really heard [name]Sy[/name] used as a nickname for [name]Simon[/name], although is that a thing in the UK maybe?
I agree with [name]Blade[/name]. All of your combos are lovely, but…[name]Jesse[/name] [name]Valentino[/name]! Wow, that name says no barriers. [name]Milo[/name], [name]Oliver[/name], and [name]Simon[/name], while all perfectly nice boys, don’t have a chance of competing with his swagger.
I’ll throw out a few names to add to [name]Blade[/name]'s list. First a couple of overtly Italian (romantic!) names for a possible middle: [name]Giovanni[/name] or [name]Amato[/name] (particularly nice with [name]Valentino[/name]).
And names that I think could stand up to the glamour of [name]Jesse[/name] [name]Valentino[/name]:
I really like [name]Sebastian[/name] for the mn… It pairs well with [name]Valentino[/name]. As for the first name, I think you have some great options.
[name]Simon[/name]-it does sound good with [name]Jesse[/name], but not my favorite of your list.
[name]Milo[/name]- I’m not crazy about this name… It seems like a nn to me. It’s also a chocolate milk type drink in Australia. Maybe [name]Miles[/name]/[name]Myles[/name]?
[name]Oscar[/name]- doesn’t have the same laid-back, cool, manly vibe that [name]Jesse[/name] has. It is a nice name, but seems very different in styles… If that matters.
[name]Max[/name]- I love this one. Though, I’d probably prefer [name]Maxwell[/name] nn [name]Max[/name].
[name]Oliver[/name]- in the same camp as [name]Oscar[/name].
[name]Blake[/name]- similar style to [name]Jesse[/name], so I think this one is a good option, too.

So now we’ve added a couple of new names to the list: [name]Archer[/name] and [name]Wyatt[/name]. We still like [name]Blake[/name] too. I just don’t like how popular [name]Blake[/name] and [name]Wyatt[/name] are, that kind of stinks. There’s also Clark, Dean and Shepherd too.

Although I like [name]Archer[/name] a lot, I don’t particularly like [name]Archer[/name] Altomari. The -ar in [name]Archer[/name] is repeated in the 3rd syllable of Altomari and the -al sort of echoes the same sound.
Given [name]Archer[/name], [name]Wyatt[/name], and [name]Blake[/name], I’d go with [name]Wyatt[/name]. Again, I like [name]Archer[/name] and [name]Blake[/name], but they both sound that though they might originate in the rough and tumble world of [name]Jesse[/name], they’ve been polished. [name]Wyatt[/name] fits in with [name]Jesse[/name]'s vibe much better, to my ear. [name]Wyatt[/name] [name]Luciano[/name]. [name]Wyatt[/name] [name]Lorenzo[/name]. Hmm…I think I prefer [name]Lorenzo[/name]…but, like I said, I think you have a big, old playground of fantastic possibilities to enjoy yourself in.

I think you’re right, [name]Archer[/name] Altomari doesn’t sound the best. What do you guys think of [name]Shepherd[/name]? I think it’s pretty cool and I absolutely adore the nickname [name]Shep[/name]. But [name]Shepherd[/name] Altomari 'm not so sure works.
[name]Wyatt[/name] and [name]Jesse[/name] could rob stagecoaches together, all while making the ladies swoon. [name]Wyatt[/name] [name]Lorenzo[/name] sounds like a cool kid!
