I don’t love it but I don’t hate it.
I think I prefer [name_u]Kingsley[/name_u], but [name_m]Kingston[/name_m] is ok. For my it’s very, very associated with an area of [name_u]London[/name_u], which isn’t a bad thing in itself, but I’m not a massive fan of place names so it puts me off a little. Also part of me feels it’s a little pretentious, but then I do sort of like the nn [name_m]King[/name_m]. Personally I wouldn’t use it, but it’s not a terrible name by any measure.
It isn’t my style, but it isn’t a bad name at all.
Far too place-namey for my tastes. It really transparently means [name_m]King[/name_m]'s Town and I just think calling a person ‘Town’ is a bit silly.
I love the name and considered using it for my first son. The only reason we didn’t is because it has a strong Jamaican/rasta association especially where we live in northern [name_u]Cali[/name_u] and because we aren’t Rastafarian we felt like it was borderline appropriating another culture in a way. Or maybe it came across as a little pretentious. My husband was more against it than I was which is why we didn’t use it…we ended up using [name_u]Easton[/name_u] which I loved because I love to travel and liked the idea of a directional name. I also liked the imagery of the sun rising in the east bringing light and a new day! I also had never heard the name when we named my son…now it is pretty popular which kind of sucks since I thought it was so unique at the time. But we have friends who named there son [name_m]Kingston[/name_m] and everyone they meet loves his name and thinks it’s really cute, so if you love it go for it!
I agree with first commenter, I prefer [name_u]Kingsley[/name_u]
I don’t mind [name_m]Kingston[/name_m] but I also prefer the less commonly used [name_u]Kingsley[/name_u].
