[name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [KUR-bee] is an English name meaning “church settlement”. It’s commonly associated with the cheerful pink puff from the Nintendo series of video games as well as the unrelated [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] brand of vacuums. I, personally, associate it with beat generation writer and poet [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Doyle[/name_m].
What do you think of the name? Which, if any, of the combos below do you like? Suggestions?
It’s cute! I like [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Edwin[/name_m], [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Walter[/name_m] and [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
@summs: I’m so glad you like a few of my combos. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you see the Nintendo association as a positive, negative, or neutral association? Thanks!
@cactusgram: I’m glad to see someone else likes the name. Thank you!
It does remind me a lot of Nintendo which makes it a tad cutesy for me, but i think it sounds enough like other names such as [name_u]Colby[/name_u], [name_u]Corbin[/name_u] and [name_u]Cody[/name_u] that it could work. I like it with longer or firmer sounding names like [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m], [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]. [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_m]Walter[/name_m] and [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] work for me too.
[name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Alistair[/name_m], [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Jonathon[/name_m], [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] and [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] came to mind too
I like it but I do associate it immediately with the Nintendo character, though its a neutral association.
I really like [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] and [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] as my favorites though I also like [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m], [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], nd pp suggestion of [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m].
@greyblue: I enjoy [name_u]Corbin[/name_u] quite a bit. It was my grandfather’s name and is my brother’s middle name. I’d have considered adding it to my list over [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] if not for one cousin having had a [name_u]Corbin[/name_u] in [name_f]October[/name_f] and another having a [name_u]Kora[/name_u] just before.
I agree that it works with longer and firmer sounding middle names. I’m rather fond of [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] for this reason.
I love your suggestion of [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Alistair[/name_m]! I already used [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m] but it’s still a great combo.
@princessshannon: Neutral as far as associations go isn’t a bad thing! Thank you for letting me know where it stands for you.
I’m glad to see you like [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] and [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m]! [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] is a little nod to myself and my grandmothers so I’m happy to see a positive reaction to it.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you all think that [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] or [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] would be more appealing than using [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] as a first name?
I didn’t even think of the nintendo character until you pointed it out. When I hear [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] I think of a character from a 90’s tv show (The Torklesons). I like it.
favorites: [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] & [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
@mclola: I had completely forgotten that show even existed until I just looked it up and was flooded with memories of watching it as a child. I loved that show. I wonder if it’s a reason why I have such positive feelings towards [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] even if he was a bit of a pesky character. Hm…
[name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] and [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] are my top combos for [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] at the moment.
My first thought was the Nintendo character but if you truly love it then use it. Unfortunately I could see potential teasing in the future (kids can be brutal). However i don’t know if the new generation of kids will have any idea of that game.
I really like it with a more grounded name. My favorites are…
[name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Samson[/name_m]
[name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Timothy[/name_m].
@emmalou23: There is a good possibility that kids would know [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] as a recurring character in Nintendo crossover games. Though, after looking it up, I saw the last [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] game was released in 2018 so they may be coming out with another soon. Who knows? It’s something to keep in mind though!
I’m glad to see you like [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Timothy[/name_m]. [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] is my father’s middle name so I’m always looking for the right combo for it.
I think [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] or [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] would be ‘safer’ options if you still wanted to use [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] and not in the first name spot but I wouldn’t say its more appealing. [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m]/[name_m]John[/name_m] feels more daring and bold. I do love the flow of [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] though. [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] would be lovely too.
this is supposed to be a quote from your question from page #1*
@princessshannon: Unfortunately quotes aren’t working at the moment.
I think you’re right, [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] or [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] would be “safer” options but [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] seems to lose a bit of its charm in the middle. Though those are still two of my favorite [name_m]Louis[/name_m] combos.
[name_u]Kirby[/name_u] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] is nice!
