Kirsten?

Hello All,
What do you think of the name [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f]? [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I are expecting baby #3 and we are having a hard time agreeing on names this time. Last night I was encouraged to find out we both really like [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f]. We have always loved Scandinavian names (he is 100% Scandinavian and our last name is Swedish) and have wanted to use one but haven’t thus far. Which leads me to my only real concern…our sons name is [name_u]August[/name_u] and our daughter’s name is [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] (koh-REEN)…is [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f] crazy to use with the sibling names? It doesn’t bother me if it isn’t a perfect match, I just don’t want to have the type of sib set that makes the people we send our [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] cards out to ect scratch their heads. What do you think? Thank you for your help!

Although [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f] isn’t my cup of tea, I think it goes fine with [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] (two great names imo). They aren’t matchy and they aren’t too different either. I don’t think people would bat an eye at it for even a second.

I think [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f] will be a nice addition. All your choices are familiar, but a little unexpected. If I saw a christmas card signed [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_f]Corinne[/name_f], and [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f]- I’d think they were cool names.

I like that these names aren’t matchy-matchy, but they’re all familiar names that you don’t hear all the time. Definitely not a head-scratcher. Go for it!

I think its fine. The names aren’t a perfect match, but the most important thing is that they fit with your last name. I’m sure when you throw that into the mix they look a bit more cohesive. Plus [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f] is such a lovely underused name. It deserves more use!

I think [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f] fits in nicely with [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Corinne[/name_f]. Like others have said, they are all familiar but not common names and I think that brings them together nicely.

I am 44. There were three [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f]'s in my 70’s classroom so I am a little bored with that name.

The potential sibset doesn’t clash at all to me - I think [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f] is a great choice! (Beware of the pronunciation issues though.)

I think it’s lovely and works well with [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] and [name_u]August[/name_u]. None of them fit the same ‘feel’ but I love them more than matchy names.

I think [name_u]August[/name_u] is the odd man out actually. Maybe because I grew up with Kirstens and Corinnes but [name_u]August[/name_u] is a recent trend. I like the set, I think it’s fine and [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f] is a fine name for a woman.

I find [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f] rather dated really, and see it as a 70/80’s type name, as that is when I feel it was quite common (around these parts at least – there were a couple in my class and I’m 27). That’s not necessarily a bad thing though. I feel that [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f] and [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] fit well together for that reason actually, because they both feel 70/80’s to me, while [name_u]August[/name_u] sits on the outer.

On top of that, there would no doubt be quite a few pronunciation issues ([name_m]KEER[/name_m]-sten or KUR-sten – I prefer the former, but the latter is what is most often used here) and you would likely get spelling inaccuracies too ([name_f]Kirstin[/name_f], [name_f]Kerstin[/name_f] or very likely, [name_f]Kristen[/name_f]).
