We have a [name_f]Caraline[/name_f] (Caroline with an a), and a [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. We aren’t pregnant yet but just thinking about what we would name another girl. I’ve always liked the name [name_m]Kit[/name_m], and I like the meaning of it. Is it too short? Would it go with [name_f]Caraline[/name_f] & [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]?
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] was always a runner up name for us so I feel like we would consider it again. Does it go with this sibset at all?
I think with your set I’d rather have [name_m]Kit[/name_m] be a nickname for something, but it’s an adorable name. I particularly love it with [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. I do think it kind of makes [name_f]Caraline[/name_f] seem left out.
[name_f][/name_f]
Same with [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f], really. [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] & [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] seem to work because of the shared initial, even though [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] is a very different name from [name_f]Caraline[/name_f] & [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], stylistically. So again, [name_f]Caraline[/name_f] seems left out (to me).
I think [name_m]Kit[/name_m] for a girl is lovely. I’m guessing [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] isn’t short for anything? It does help to make [name_m]Kit[/name_m] feel more balanced as a nickname name.
[name_f][/name_f]
Given the length of [name_m]Kit[/name_m] compared to [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] and [name_f]Caraline[/name_f], I would probably consider a longer full name that allows for [name_m]Kit[/name_m] as a nickname. Using [name_m]Kit[/name_m] on its own wouldn’t be a major problem though. I LOVE [name_m]Kit[/name_m] [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] as a first/middle name combo!
[name_f][/name_f]
I agree with the previous poster that [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] & [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] seem to go great together, but it makes [name_f]Caraline[/name_f] feel left out.
[name_f][/name_f]
If you’re taking suggestions:
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Katharine[/name_f] "Kit (I like [name_f]Katharine[/name_f] with an ‘a’ for you, as it keeps that theme you’ve got going with [name_f]Caraline[/name_f] having a unique spelling).
[name_f]Caraline[/name_f] is not the type of name I typically lean towards, but it was just her name! [name_f][/name_f] so I think that’s why all my favorites are going with [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] better
Don’t worry, [name_f]Caraline[/name_f] is great! I think it’s super cute [name_f][/name_f] Honestly I’m not too worried about cohesiveness of sibsets in terms of whether the names match stylistically so I think if you love [name_m]Kit[/name_m] the most or [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] the most, use them!!
I agree with previous posters about [name_m]Kit[/name_m] being better suited as a nickname! With that being said, the combo [name_m]Kit[/name_m] [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] is gorgeous!
[name_f][/name_f]
C a r a l i n e, M a g g i e, & “K i t”… [name_f][/name_f]Kittredge [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Kestrel[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Beckett[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Cricket[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Colette[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Cosette[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Kinneret[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Atticus[/name_m]
[name_m]Kit[/name_m] is lovely, I do prefer it as a nickname though, not just for the sake of the sibset but in general. Maybe [name_f]Christine[/name_f], [name_f]Christina[/name_f], [name_f]Christabel[/name_f], [name_f]Catalina[/name_f], [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f], [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] would work for you?
[name_f][/name_f]
I like [name_m]Kit[/name_m] better than [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f].
I actually love [name_m]Kit[/name_m] on its own. [name_f]Caraline[/name_f], [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] and [name_m]Kit[/name_m] sound great together! I like that the syllables go 3, 2, 1 too.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Kit[/name_m] [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] is the name of a playwright but it’s a great name!
I think [name_m]Kit[/name_m] is absolutely perfect. It has Caraline’s sweetness and sharp starting sound, but it’s got Maggie’s friendliness and trim simplicity. It could work as a nickname, but I also love [name_m]Kit[/name_m] on its own.
[name_f][/name_f]
Personally, I would lean [name_m]Kit[/name_m] over [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f], which I feel is matchier with [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. But I also LOVE [name_m]Kit[/name_m] as a name in general, so I could be biased.
[name_m]Kit[/name_m] is sparky, cool and charming [name_f][/name_f]- and I think it could work if you like it! I guess it really depends how much you are worried about a ‘perfectly’ matched set? Because…
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Kit[/name_m] feels more gender neutral than [name_f]Caraline[/name_f] and [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
Nicknamey like [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
but more ‘contemporary’ as a standalone than either
[name_f][/name_f]
though it does have a touch of vintage spark about it that could make it work?
[name_f][/name_f]
it does feel more ‘cohesive’ with [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
but also similar to [name_f]Caraline[/name_f]? maybe because [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] ‘Kit’ is one I’ve seen and Catherine/Katherine/Caraline feel similar
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
But I kind of like the eclectic vibe and after all [name_f][/name_f]- they are each their own person!
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Caraline[/name_f], [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] and [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] work for me in a similar way [name_f][/name_f]- maybe slightly more ‘cohesive’ somehow, possibly with the gentler sound of [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f]?
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] came to mind as a mix of both sounds? [name_m]Or[/name_m] [name_f]Kalista[/name_f] ‘Kit’?
I think [name_m]Kit[/name_m] is such a fun, folkish name that paired with Maggi3 & Caralin3 feels very southern [name_f]Belle[/name_f], outdoorsy and cowgirl esque this is a whole aesthetic that I love so fun. I think [name_m]Kit[/name_m] is an eclectic and maybe more stylistically in keeping with Maggi3 but still she’s fun and I love an eclectic sibling set. [name_m]Kit[/name_m] [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] is gorgeous.
I love Kit! I think it fits well with Maggie and Caraline. It is a bit more androgynous than Maggie and Caraline, but like the overall feel of her in general. Maybe something like Katharine or Katharina nn Kit? I do love just Kit too, though!
ETA: oops, forgot about Marlowe—for me it doesn’t fit as well as Kit does, and if it weren’t for Kit Marlowe, I would recommend using them together. I think something like Catalina Marlowe would be sweet, though, nn Kit, or something like Kit Harlow? Eden Marlowe?
I’d be interested to know if [name_f]Caraline[/name_f] has a nickname or if she always goes by her full name? A nickname might help even the vibes out…
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Kit[/name_m] is lovely, sparky and breezy and goes well with [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. As others have pointed out, [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] ‘Kit’ [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] is one of the big associations with both [name_m]Kit[/name_m] and [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f], so it wouldn’t work as a combo [name_f][/name_f]- but perhaps [name_m]Kit[/name_m] works as a stretchy nickname for [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] on that basis?!
[name_f][/name_f]
I really like @readingreverie’s suggestions especially [name_f]Kestrel[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], and [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] which would work with the nickname [name_m]Kit[/name_m] and potentially unify the sibset a bit more than [name_m]Kit[/name_m] alone.
I like [name_m]Kit[/name_m] more than [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] and also think that it fits better with your girls’ names. I like the idea of [name_m]Kit[/name_m] as a nn, but agree that [name_m]Kit[/name_m] is super cute on its own and better than all of the full names. So, the question is, should you do a full name just so there’s a full name even if you don’t love the full name as much as [name_m]Kit[/name_m]? I think the answer is no, if you super don’t like any full names nearly as much. That being said, I like [name_f]Katia[/name_f] nn [name_m]Kit[/name_m] the best. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though it’s a different style from [name_f]Caraline[/name_f] & [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] & [name_f]Cricket[/name_f]. [name_f]Cricket[/name_f] is a bit more guilty pleasure.
