kitty

What do you think of [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] as a first name? Not as a nn for [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] etc

I don’t even like it as a nn for [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]… It just feels like something you would call your cat, I’ve never really understood it as a name for a person. The first time I heard it as a name was when I watched That 70’s Show, and I thought it was so weird! To me it feels the same as doggy, fishy, horsey, that kind of name!

I realize not everyone feels that way about it though! If I was going to go with something super nicknamey like [name_f]Kitty[/name_f], I would definitely use [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] or something that could be used in more formal situations if she wanted to.

[name_f]Kitty[/name_f] is adorable but i dont like it as a first name . Sounds too childish on its own . Personally i believe you can use it as a nickname for any name started with K .

I would go even further and say you could use it as a nickname/petname for any name (it’s an animal name after all and they are used as petnames quite a bit). And it is adorable but maybe too adorable as a first name.

I love it! Use it

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Kitty[/name_f]! I love nickname names. [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] sounds like a fun rebel  Maybe [name_u]Kit[/name_u] as the full name if [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] is too much of a drag. You can make her middle name long and frilly

I LOOOOVE IT! But, only as a nn…

Horrific in either case. Please don’t objectify your child or condemn her to being viewed as a sex object (any more than she will be anyway). Names carry weight and power–give her one she can be proud of.

I love [name_f]Kitty[/name_f]! It has such a great vintage feel to it, and it happens to fit really well with the nickname style of names where I live. I can just imagine it as the name of an adventurous and daring heroine in a book (maybe in a Victorian or steampunk setting), and I think it can work fine on any age, not just a child. I also happen to like cats :p.

I really like it! One of my best friends when I was 10ish was called [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] and no one ever made cat jokes or anything, it’s really sweet

I think it’s fine as a nickname, although I much prefer [name_u]Kit[/name_u]. I would never give it to a child as a given name. It doesn’t come close to passing my Supreme [name_m]Court[/name_m] [name_u]Justice[/name_u] test.
If you don’t like [name_f]Katharine[/name_f] that well, give her it as a name but call her [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] from the moment of birth and everyone else will too.

I adore [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] as a FN, thanks to Pride and Prejudice. It’s a lovely choice, and, fits perfectly with [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], imo!

I kind of agree with this. [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] definitely has sexual overtones that wouldn’t carry well into adolescence or adulthood. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t get me wrong. Its cute, sweet and vintage and, imo, as a nn for a child it isn’t too bad, but beyond that no way.

[name_u]Jackie[/name_u] O, an Australian radio host, has a daughter named [name_f]Catalina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Kitty[/name_f]. She’s 4 years old and it’s cute, but I’m glad it’s only her nn.

I met a lady in her 60’s that specifically asked to be called [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] and it did’t suit her at all. She came across as “mutton dressed up as lamb”…

I like it but I definitely do prefer it as a nickname for [name_f]Katherine[/name_f].

Teasing potential.
