In the US, this is the name of a middle aged mom on what was a very popular tv show. Who was funny but had a drinking problem.

I wouldn’t go with it as a first name personally but I have an elderly aunt [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] forever known as [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] & I love [name_f]Katrina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Kitty[/name_f]. But if [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f] can work, [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] can work too. It can be shortened to [name_u]Kit[/name_u] if becomes too cutesy, like [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f] & [name_f]Lili[/name_f] 
I knew a young girl named [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] growing up in [name_f]England[/name_f] when I was a teen. It is unexpected but lovely! I think the sibset was [name_u]Connor[/name_u] and [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] 🐈⬛ 
I like your suggestion of using it as a nickname! I think [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] is great on a young girl/woman but not sure it ages well.
