Knox and Max- Too Close?

Are [name_u]Max[/name_u] and [name_m]Knox[/name_m] too close?

Would they work for brothers or even twins?

They are our top 2 boy names and its so hard to choose which we like better.

Yep, definitely too close. I wouldn’t use them for twins, or brothers unless it was in a big, varied sibset and they had several years’ gap between them.

It would help to switch one out for a similar name with a different number of syllables. I still wouldn’t personally use [name_u]Max[/name_u] & [name_u]Lennox[/name_u] or [name_m]Knox[/name_m] & [name_m]Maddox[/name_m], but they’re less similar than [name_u]Max[/name_u] and [name_m]Knox[/name_m].

Ps. Townsend… We are thinking of that for our baby boy. What is your connection to Townsend, and what do you think of it for a name?

Too close. I agree with PP that if you had a bunch of kids and they had a big age gap, it would be fine, but I assume you don’t.

Personally I like [name_u]Max[/name_u] more.

My last name is Townsend. I have heard someone else wanting to use it as a first name as well. Where my husband works, they all go by their last name and all his brothers were in the military and they all go by their last names. It works well as a first name.

Too close in sound and somewhat of a clash in style. I would avoid naming brothers this.

Actually know a family and their little boys are [name_u]Max[/name_u] and [name_m]Knox[/name_m]. I’m a name nerd and it never bothered or occurred to me that they were too close. Names share X but don’t rhyme or have same initials. [name_u]Max[/name_u] and [name_u]Pax[/name_u] would be too close! Or [name_u]Max[/name_u] and [name_m]Jax[/name_m].
[name_m]Knox[/name_m] and [name_u]Max[/name_u] work.
