Ksenia

I’ve recently fallen in love with this name. [name]Ksenia[/name], pronounced like kuh-[name]SEN[/name]-yah. It’s a Russian variant of the Greek [name]Xenia[/name], meaning hospitable. I love the show Lost Girl and one of the main characters is played by a young woman named [name]Ksenia[/name] Solo. So that’s how I got introduced to the name.

I really like it. I love it, actually. It’s very pretty. It’s also unusual, which is important to me. I don’t want my kids to be 1 of 5 kids in their class with the same name. I love the Russian element, as I’m of Russian-Jewish descent.

What do you guys think? Aye? Nay?

Hmm…I would say “nay”, but my naming style is very traditional and [name]Ksenia[/name] really isn’t my style. This name sounds like you made it up (even though you didn’t), however, if you love it, and if it fits with your personal background, then it’s not so bad! It’s just NMS.

[name]One[/name] of my best friends in high school was named [name]Ksenia[/name] and I’ve loved the name since then; a def. yay from me, especially w/ your background.

Not one of those names I would use myself or would entertain putting in my top 20, but I would cheer on anyone thinking about this name. This is a definite YES for you! What middle names would you use?

[name]Love[/name] the name !! If you like it use it!! i think its great! i considered it! and it was on my sig but i took it off lol in a lil book now!

I totally get [name]Ksenia[/name] not being everybody’s style. There are a lot of name that are perfectly nice names that I don’t personally like.

I have an unusual name (Tovara) and I get comments on it at least a few times a month and I love it! Right now I like [name]Ksenia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Jane[/name]. Not sure if I want to do the whole double-MN, but it sounds good to me.

I knew a [name]Ksenia[/name] once, and I always thought she had such a pretty name!

I knew a [name]Ksenia[/name] as well and thought it was an interesting name, as well as pretty and exotic. I think it is a great name choice! Uncommon, without trying too hard to be unique. Stands out from all the Bellas/Ellas/Annas etc that are so trendy right now.

I love Russian names and [name]Ksenia[/name] is one of the ones at the top of the list! I say it (and have only ever heard it) with two syllables though, KSEN-yah.

[name]Ksenia[/name] gets a yay from me!

I like it but I prefer [name]Yesenia[/name], prn. Yeh-sen-yah

Yeah, it’s more of a two syllable name than three syllable. It’s hard to explain in writing. The actress [name]Ksenia[/name] Solo pronounces it here: Ksenia Solo of Lost Girl - YouTube if anyone’s curious

[name]Yesenia[/name] is also very pretty!

The [name]Ksenia[/name] I knew pronounced it that way was as well.

[name]Ksenia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is lovely. [name]Ksenia[/name] is one of those names that seem built for multiple middle names. It’s a leader.

I personally prefer [name]Xenia[/name], but [name]Ksenia[/name] isn’t bad either.
It’s one of my favourite Slavic names.

I love this name and came to it the same way you did!! Kseniya Solo. It’s on my list. Is it definitely said that way? I was under the impression that the ‘ks’ at the beginning of a name (in Russian/Slavic names) was said as though it were an ‘x’ as in the sound it make in ‘axe’ (without the ‘a’ sound at the beginning).

Never mind; just watched the YouTube vid.

[name]One[/name] of my BFF’s names is Senia. I prefer that… much simpler. I always thought she had a pretty name  I think it came from a family member named Senja, pronounced the same (sen-ya).

I love [name]Ksenia[/name] and every other form of it as well… [name]Chimene[/name], [name]Xenia[/name], Senja, & [name]Oksana[/name]!

Yes! [name]Love[/name] love this name. A definite yay from me. I’m entertaining [name]Ksenia[/name] [name]Esme[/name] at the moment actually. I just wish it had a nickname/shortened version I liked! Can you think of any? All I’ve got is K.

If the nickname thing’s too much I would use it as a middle name… I was thinking [name]Iris[/name] [name]Ksenia[/name].

[name]Glad[/name] this name is getting some love though!
