Lachlan with my last name

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all! I’m pregnant with baby #3 which is a baby boy. I’ve fallen in LOVE with the name [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u] but I’m afraid it clashes with my last name Lapple. What do you guys think? [name_f]My[/name_f] other children are [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] (girl) and [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] (boy).

Thank you for the feedback!

I think it sounds fine because the 'a’s in the first and last have different sounds.

Thank you! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think I should use the alternate spelling [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m] to avoid confusion?

People in the US, [name_f]Canada[/name_f], and Australia I believe, pronounce [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] like [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m] so its up to you! Both work.

I think it’s fine.

I think it’s fine! [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u] sounds great with [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] and [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]!

I like the alliteration. I slightly prefer the [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m] spelling with your surname but either is fine really.

I’m going against the grain here… I do think it’s too much with your surname. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the name [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m], but both starting with L and the extra ‘l’ sound at the end of Lapple, and both having 2 syllables… it feels quite tongue-twistery to me.

My partner has a very L and S heavy and far too long surname which I find ruins the flow of many a good first name!

I think it sounds fine, though the [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m] spelling might make it look less matchy with your surname
[name_u]Love[/name_u] your kids names!

To my ear, it sounds fine because I’m in the US and the way we usually pronounce [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] sounds like lock not lack, so the vowel sounds are different.

Great name! And I think its fine

Unfortunately I agree with this. It isn’t the “La-” beginnings that bother me, it’s the “-lan La-” transition.

Unrelated, but I’m enjoying the rhyming middle names that your kids have!

Hmm, I think it’s a bit too much. Not unusable, though.

Firstly I adore [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] and [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]! Those are such great combos and work so well for siblings.

Lachlan [name_u]Finn[/name_u] is also amazing! I think it sounds fine with Lapple. As someone else said they have totally different sounds. I like the alliteration a lot too. It gives it kind of a comic book hero charm, and the name goes perfectly with [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] and [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]!

I would only use the o spelling if you prefer it. Otherwise I think [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] Lapple actually looks better than [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m] Lapple.

Thanks for the feedback!! The rhyming middle names was unintentional for my first two but now I definitely have to keep the pattern going haha. Thankfully I love the name [name_u]Finn[/name_u]!

Thank you! It was hard finding a name that went with both [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] and [name_f]Kaia[/name_f]!

Thank you so much!! I think I might use the spelling [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m] for that very reason.

I think it would be fine, given that the La-s are not pronounced the same… although I do prefer [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m] Lapple.

Lachlan [name_u]Finn[/name_u] is super cute!

I appreciate the honestly! Last names definitely can make things tricky.
