Still looking for the best name for our baby boy. We both like [name]Lachlan[/name] but can’t decide if it’s usable in the US. We would probably use [name]Lock[/name] as an occasional nickname. Our daughters are [name]Penelope[/name] and [name]Violet[/name]. I would love to hear any opinions, good or bad. Thanks!
I love [name]Lachlan[/name]. I think [name]Lachlan[/name] sounds great with [name]Penelope[/name] and [name]Violet[/name]. Here are some others you may like.

[name]Lachlan[/name], I think it is definitely useable. Sounds nice with [name]Penelope[/name] and [name]Violet[/name].
It’s not my style, but it’s by no means horrible.
I like it! Reminds me of Aussie actor [name]Alex[/name] O’[name]Lachlan[/name] (now O’[name]Loughlin[/name])
Yep, I think it’s very usable in the US. I’d love to meet a [name]Lachlan[/name]
I like it… Not quite love it but I do like it!
I’d also say it’s very usable in the US. I think it’s a great name.
Its a lovely name and quite usable. Its quite a popular name here in Australia and it could definitely work in any other country (U.S.A included if you live there).
[name]Love[/name] it, and it’s totally usable.
[name]Love[/name], love, love this name! The only issues I’ve had when using it for a character or such is pronunciation, so many see Latch-lan, but a simple explanation does the trick.
I came across this name recently and it’s been on my list ever since. My husband is all about the nickname “[name]Lock[/name].”
I’m pregnant with #6 right now and [name]Lachlan[/name] is our top pick for a first name. Dh loves the nickname [name]Lock[/name]. I love the meaning as half of my husband’s family is descended from vikings. If we had run across [name]Lachlan[/name] earlier, I think one of the older boys would have had this name. And I love that about it also. I hated the thought of naming this baby one of the names we had left over on another of the boys’ baby name lists.
I obviously think it’s a great name and with so few of them here in the US, it’s distinctive yet not ‘way out there’. I say go for it! I think it’s an amazing combination of being different yet still a ‘real’ name and refined yet not at all feminine.
