Ladder?!

So, I picked up my nephew from daycare and he introduced me to his friend, Ladder. Ladder [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], to be exact. At first I thought this was just a friendly moniker, but his mother assured me that that was his real name.

What are your thoughts on this?

I really dislike it… seems super silly. I wonder if there’s a nice sorry behind it that could change my mind or if it’s just an attempt to be unique.

I also really dislike the name. I just can’t see it working very well for the poor boy who will probably need to constantly repeat his name when he introduces himself in social situations later in life. And what about when he’s applying for jobs? Unfortunately, I can’t see people taking this name seriously.

I wonder if it’s spelt differently?

His mother told me that she wanted a “real boy’s name”, so she just took “lad” and added -er to it. :weary: Very unfortunate indeed.

[name_m]How[/name_m] would you feel if you discovered a stranger made a thread criticizing your son’s name on a baby name forum?
