I was wondering if you hear the baby name [name_u]DAKOTA[/name_u] a lot In [name_f]Alaska[/name_f]? How popular is this name? and if you know any are they boys or girls? What are their siblings names? Thanks so much!!
[name_m]Hi[/name_m], I used to live in [name_f]Alaska[/name_f] - how I miss the scenery!! - and I never encountered a baby [name_u]Dakota[/name_u] there. From what I can find online, the last time it was even in the [name_f]Alaska[/name_f] Top 100 was 2006, when it was #89, given to just 8 babies and they were all girls. From what I saw, [name_u]Dakota[/name_u] was more commonly a girl name than a boy name particularly in that state. The general trend for [name_u]Dakota[/name_u] is gradually decreasing popularity in most states since 2005, not just [name_f]Alaska[/name_f]. Also, as a heads up, some native people consider it disrespectful, instead of complimentary, to give a baby the name of a tribe, much as some Christians might consider it offensive to name a baby [name_u]Messiah[/name_u] (both names representing something “sacred” to the respective cultures.)
