Landry, Gentry & Langley as Unisex names

We’ve decided to pick out three unisex names, and once we find out the sex, add middle names (our number we want is 3 :stuck_out_tongue:
We’ve settled for [name_u]Landry[/name_u], [name_u]Gentry[/name_u] and [name_u]Langley[/name_u]. They are unique yet not too you-neek. Some names we’ve thought about are [name_u]Langley[/name_u] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] (girl), [name_u]Landry[/name_u] [name_u]Reed[/name_u] (boy), [name_u]Gentry[/name_u] [name_m]Aiken[/name_m] (boy), [name_u]Landry[/name_u] [name_f]Therese[/name_f] (girl), [name_u]Gentry[/name_u] [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] (girl), [name_u]Langley[/name_u] Truett (boy).
[name_f]Do[/name_f] these flow good as both girl and boy names?

To be honest they really aren’t my style and I find them more masculine than unisex. All three names are far too similar for siblings too! [name_u]Landry[/name_u] an [name_u]Langley[/name_u] are almost identical, while [name_u]Landry[/name_u] and [name_u]Gentry[/name_u] end in the same sound.

I think you have much better options in your signature!

[name_u]Landry[/name_u] sounds very masculine.
[name_u]Gentry[/name_u], incorporating the word gent, is very masculine. And it comes off like naming a boy [name_m]Prince[/name_m] or a girl [name_f]Queen[/name_f]. If you have to say you’re a part of the gentry class, everyone knows you aren’t.
[name_u]Langley[/name_u], while not at all my style, comes off as feminine at least. I wouldn’t give it to a boy, especially if there’s any chance of him being lanky.

[name_u]Langley[/name_u] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] (girl): It doesn’t roll off my tongue.
[name_u]Landry[/name_u] [name_f]Therese[/name_f] (girl): Ter-ezz or Ter-ee-suh? I could see [name_u]Landry[/name_u] Terezz. But she’ll still only be called [name_u]Landry[/name_u] most of the time, which I can’t see.
[name_u]Gentry[/name_u] [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] (girl): I just can’t get past [name_u]Gentry[/name_u] as a name, much less for a girl.

[name_u]Langley[/name_u] Truett (boy): The best of the choices, though I can’t see a boy being called [name_u]Langley[/name_u] day in and day out.
[name_u]Landry[/name_u] [name_u]Reed[/name_u] (boy): Not my style and it sounds like the kid has three last names.
[name_u]Gentry[/name_u] [name_m]Aiken[/name_m] (boy): I can’t get past [name_u]Gentry[/name_u] as a name, but [name_m]Aiken[/name_m] like [name_m]Clay[/name_m] [name_m]Aiken[/name_m] makes it even worse. It doesn’t even sound high-browed, which I’d minimally expect with a name like gentry.

Eh. I’d go with something different…please. Those names are very very masculine. They aren’t unisex at all for me. If I was a girl and had one of those names I’d hate my name…and I have a very unfeminine name.

But for dudes they’re not bad! The only one I really like it [name_u]Gentry[/name_u].

I wouldn’t put them together as a sibset either. They’re all very very similar and are constantly going to get their names confused.

These all seem very masculine to me. I wouldn’t use them on a girl at all… I do like [name_u]Landry[/name_u] [name_u]Reed[/name_u] for a boy, though. Not too crazy about the rest.

I have to agree that they are too similar. Here are some unisex suggestions:

[name_u]River[/name_u] / [name_m]Rivers[/name_m]
[name_u]Raven[/name_u]
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u]
[name_u]Sunny[/name_u] / [name_u]Sonny[/name_u]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]
[name_u]Fallon[/name_u]
[name_u]Morgan[/name_u]
[name_u]Georgie[/name_u]
[name_u]Frankie[/name_u]
[name_f]Garnet[/name_f]

I adore [name_u]Gentry[/name_u] because of [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] [name_u]Gentry[/name_u]. That’s it. They’re all very masculine for me, though

[name_u]Landry[/name_u], [name_u]Gentry[/name_u], and [name_u]Langley[/name_u] all sound very masculine to me, actually they are all quite handsome. I would hold onto these three for the boys and find 3 other names for girls. That way you could have a top 3 for each.

[name_u]Landry[/name_u], [name_u]Gentry[/name_u], [name_u]Langley[/name_u], and -

[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_u]Sierra[/name_u]
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f]
[name_m]Autry[/name_m]
[name_f]Virginia[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f]
[name_u]Skye[/name_u]
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Savannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Cadence[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u]
[name_u]Tatum[/name_u]
[name_f]Whitley[/name_f]
[name_u]Presley[/name_u]
[name_u]Waverly[/name_u]

These names are NMS but I like [name_u]Gentry[/name_u] [name_m]Aiken[/name_m].

I prefer the middle names you’ve picked out, honestly. [name_u]Landry[/name_u] sounds like “laundry,” [name_u]Gentry[/name_u] is a social class, and [name_u]Langley[/name_u] sounds silly. Lanky? Gangly? Not a great choice for a first name. I’d much rather see you use [name_u]Finley[/name_u] or [name_u]Waverly[/name_u].

All three are on my list as well. [name_u]Landry[/name_u] for both, [name_u]Langley[/name_u] for a girl, and [name_u]Gentry[/name_u] for a boy.

It’s bizarre to me that so many Berries are opposed to “unisex” names and are so adamant that a name must either be boy or girl. It’s just strange. I think views on gender have evolved enough that the generation that is being named now won’t feel this way. But that’s just me. To each his own!

[name_u]Gentry[/name_u] is absolutely and utterly masculine-the first half of it is “gent” as in gentleman. [name_u]Langley[/name_u] I don’t care for at all. [name_u]Landry[/name_u] I’m undecided about though definitely has a more masculine feel. I can see [name_u]Landry[/name_u] growing on me, the more I look at it the more I like it, for a boy (it’s very similar to [name_m]Landon[/name_m] but different).

I honestly don’t like any of them, either for a boy or a girl. [name_u]Gentry[/name_u], apart from being pretty much 100% masculine to me (Due to the whole Gent thing) is a social class, and together with [name_u]Landry[/name_u] just makes me think of ‘Landed [name_u]Gentry[/name_u]’. While [name_u]Langley[/name_u] is the best of the three, it’s still a bit wordy, reminds me of gangly and still leans towards masculine.

I’m not opposed to unisex names, I just think there are a lot more out there that would work better on a boy or girl, that are also less wordy.

I prefer [name_u]Langley[/name_u] the most because even though it sounds like gangly, it doesn’t give off the vibes that the others do. I think [name_u]Langley[/name_u] Truett/[name_u]Reed[/name_u] sound nice. For a girl, I’d like [name_u]Langley[/name_u] [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] or [name_u]Langley[/name_u] [name_f]Therese[/name_f].

For [name_u]Landry[/name_u], I see the word laundry. For that reason, I wouldn’t put it on a girl because it gives a very ‘women stay in the kitchen’ type of vibe for me. But, I think [name_u]Reed[/name_u] and Truett would works as middle names for the boys; [name_f]Therese[/name_f] and [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] again for the girls.

[name_u]Gentry[/name_u] seems like a “[name_f]Mercedes[/name_f]”, “[name_u]Bentley[/name_u]”, or “[name_f]Porsche[/name_f]” type name to me. I would also keep the [name_f]Therese[/name_f], [name_f]Mariah[/name_f], [name_u]Reed[/name_u], and Truett options. [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] doesn’t seem “feminine” enough imo to even out the masculine sound of [name_u]Gentry[/name_u].

But, if you love these names go with what you like the best.

I am in no way against boy names on girls. However, the only one I really like is [name_u]Landry[/name_u], and while I know a teen girl and a baby boy with this name, it always leans boy for me. I am not a fan of the other 2, [name_u]Gentry[/name_u] just reminds me of [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] [name_u]Gentry[/name_u] and that screams all boy, and [name_u]Langley[/name_u] only reminds me of the [name_f]Air[/name_f] Force base and all that goes with it. I feel there are other unisex options out there that are better, and some are listed by others above.

I love the idea of unisex names, but to me these are hard on the tongue and kind of seem as if you are randomly throwing names together. I do Like the names in your signature. What about names like [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_m]Hendrix[/name_m] [name_u]Gentry[/name_u],[name_u]Waverly[/name_u] [name_u]Arya[/name_u] (spinoff from the commonly used [name_f]Mariah[/name_f]), [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_f]Danielle[/name_f] or [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]?
