Lark - thoughts?

I heard the name [name_f]Lark[/name_f] recently and it has really grown on me… I can’t stop thinking about it! It has a soft/dainty feel to it, but it also packs some strength. I can totally picture it on a kickass heroine. I’ve been thinking of possible combos…

[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Cosima[/name_f]
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u]
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f]

I also like it as a middle spot…

[name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Lark[/name_f] (really like this…)
[name_f]Cosima[/name_f] [name_f]Lark[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Lark[/name_f]

Any suggestions or thoughts? Who do you see when you hear the name [name_f]Lark[/name_f]? Thanks!

I think it’s a pretty and unexpected name. I like [name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Lark[/name_f]! So pretty and refreshing.

I used to know a [name_f]Lark[/name_f]. She was really smart (she ended up being the valedictorian of her class) and sweet, but also very strong willed. She was really hyper and always had a huge smile on her face-so I have a good association with the name.

I prefer it as a first name! I like [name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] and [name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] the most! I also really love [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] and [name_u]River[/name_u] but they don’t flow as well with [name_f]Lark[/name_f] to my ears. They sound too abrupt or something idk.

I have half-reluctantly been crushing on [name_f]Lark[/name_f] for a while . . . I just would prefer a longer name, but the only variation I’ve found is [name_u]Larkin[/name_u] which just makes me think of Yorkshire parkin. It’s lovely though. [name_u]Lake[/name_u] is similar but easier to use because it’s smoother (I think). I would love to meet a little girl called [name_f]Lark[/name_f] but don’t think I’d quite be able to use it myself, except possibly as a middle name.

[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f]
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Noemi[/name_f]
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Arethusa[/name_f]
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] Ismeria
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Estella[/name_f]
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Lark[/name_f], to me the associations with the lark have a bright, sunny, airy feeling while the sound of the name is heavier and keeps it a little more grounded…if that makes sense

I love the name [name_f]Lark[/name_f]! I prefer it as a middle name because I think it feels short, fresh, and unexpected in the middle spot and sounds great after feminine three-syllable or longer first names (like [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Lark[/name_f], [name_f]Marina[/name_f] [name_f]Lark[/name_f], etc.).

I think it’s very pretty–I can see it along [name_u]Wren[/name_u] (which now feels totally mainstream) or the still more daring [name_f]Swan[/name_f] (which I really like!).

I’m curious to hear British berries weight in though, because while as an American, I think of the bird, I know in the UK “lark” is also a word for “something done for fun, especially something mischievous or daring; an amusing adventure or escapade.” Is this a commonly used word, still? Would this have a negative impact on the name?

I think it works perfectly in the middle spot, with almost any first, as a one-syllable middle which is far from a “filler.” In terms of the first name spot, I would pair it with a non-word/nature name (so [name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] would be out for me, but that’s just a matter of taste of course, some people want a double-nature name).
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Lark[/name_f] are my favorites from your combos.

There was a woman named [name_f]Lark[/name_f] in my neighborhood while I was growing up and I loved her! She was in her 50s, very outgoing and loved to sing. She was a youth leader at a girls camp I went to and she’d wake us up in the morning by singing at the top of her lungs. I personally have very good feelings about the name [name_f]Lark[/name_f] and would love to see it on a child now! I love the combination [name_f]Lark[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f].
