I’ve been mulling over Pipit as a name - I’m a real sucker for “[name_m]Pip[/name_m]” names and wondered if this one could work? It’s a bird name in the same vein as fashionable [name_f]Lark[/name_f], [name_u]Wren[/name_u], etc. - though obviously a bit more out there!
What do you think? And do you think Pipit “[name_m]Pip[/name_m]” would be better suited to a girl or a boy?
I see Pipit nn [name_m]Pip[/name_m] as more of a girls name (like [name_u]Piper[/name_u] or [name_f]Pippa[/name_f], or a nn for the unusual [name_f]Pipitsa[/name_f]). Its def not my style, but I personally would much rather be named Pipit than [name_f]Lark[/name_f] or [name_u]Wren[/name_u], both of which seem vastly more boyish to me
Thanks all. It’s growing on me! I know a girl [name_m]Pippin[/name_m] so it seems slightly more feminine to me - plus bird names often are - but I do think it would work for a boy, and nn [name_m]Pip[/name_m] is one of my favourites for a boy.
I like [name_m]Pippin[/name_m] or [name_m]Philip[/name_m] for [name_m]Pip[/name_m] as a boy. Pipit reminds me of popette and is slightly more feminine in my mind. I love [name_m]Pip[/name_m] for a boy.
I really like [name_m]Pip[/name_m], it has great Dickens’ connotations and [name_f]Lark[/name_f] is very pretty but the others are a bit of a stretch for me, but then I’m no fan of " Birdy" which is everywhere there days either.
[name_m]Pip[/name_m] is adorable. I like [name_m]Pip[/name_m] (and [name_m]Pippin[/name_m], although that’s very Come Outside for me as a [name_u]Brit[/name_u] who was brought up on that show). Not so much Pipit, it reminds me of pipette, as in the lab tool. I’d say Pipit/[name_m]Pip[/name_m] is for a boy.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Pip[/name_m] as a NN! Not keen on Pippit or [name_m]Pippin[/name_m] to get to that though. It sounds a bit squeaky/silly to me.
