I am being induced on [name]Wednesday[/name] and have been pretty sure this whole time that my daughter is going to be [name]Waverly[/name] [name]Wells[/name]. Then, I came across an acquaintance whose daughter’s name is [name]Kinzley[/name] and I think it’s an awful name and my SO said it sounds similar to [name]Waverly[/name]. UGH. And now I feel like [name]Waverly[/name] isn’t feminine enough and I should call her [name]Aurelia[/name], or [name]Claire[/name], or [name]Hannah[/name]…
[name]Hannah[/name] and [name]Aurelia[/name] are timeless and beautiful names.
What is it that you dislike about [name]Kinzley[/name]? If you identify that, you can decide whether [name]Waverly[/name] has those same qualities that you dislike in [name]Kinzley[/name]. [name]Kinzley[/name] sounds very made up and sounds like it should be a nickname for something longer. [name]Waverly[/name], though perhaps similar in sound, is a much more substantial name, in my opinion.
[name]Waverly[/name] [name]Wells[/name] is adorable! While [name]Waverly[/name] isn’t [name]Aurelia[/name] or [name]Arabella[/name] or [name]Annabella[/name] or [name]Anastasia[/name] or something equally frilly, [name]Waverly[/name] still feels very feminine to me, and [name]Waverly[/name] [name]Wells[/name] is a really cool, fun name! [name]IMO[/name], [name]Waverly[/name] and the trendy [name]Kinzley[/name] are nowhere near on the same playing field. I would keep it, [name]Waverly[/name] is charming and wonderful.
[name]Kinzley[/name] sounds VERY trendy and made up to me, almost a little trashy.
I honestly don’t think [name]Waverly[/name] is the best choice as a name. I think of a road…not a girl, or even a person.
I’d much rather [name]Aurelia[/name], [name]Claire[/name], or [name]Hannah[/name]. I think [name]Aurelia[/name] with your surname is beautiful!
Yes. This. Seconded.
I am in love with the name [name]Waverly[/name]! I think it is one of the most pretty original names out there. [name]Waverly[/name] [name]Wells[/name] is a beautiful choice!
[name]Waverly[/name] just makes me think of the show [name]Waverly[/name] Place. It’s not as bad as [name]Kinzley[/name], but it’s not my style as a girls’ name. While it does flow rather nicely with [name]Wells[/name], I like many other names better.
[name]Aurelia[/name] - I don’t think [name]Aurelia[/name] and [name]Wells[/name] flow well together with the repeated “el” sound.
[name]Hannah[/name] - It’s a nice feminine name that flows very nicely with [name]Wells[/name].
[name]Claire[/name] - [name]Love[/name] the name, but not so much as a first name in this case. [name]Claire[/name] [name]Wells[/name] sounds abrupt, given that they are both one-syllable names.
Using just the names you mentioned, I’d go with [name]Hannah[/name] [name]Claire[/name] [name]Wells[/name].
I agree with her- pinpoint what you dislike about [name]Kinzley[/name] and see if any of those things aply to [name]Waverly[/name]. I don’t care much for [name]Waverly[/name], but if you love it then go for it.
[name]Hope[/name] that helps.
I don’t like [name]Waverley[/name] the other ones ARE MUCH MUCH better
[name]Waverly[/name] is COMPLETELY different than [name]Kinzley[/name] to me. [name]Waverly[/name] is beautiful. If you’ve loved it the whole time, won’t you be sad you didn’t use it? [name]Waverly[/name] [name]Wells[/name] is amazing.
I agree–I hate [name]Kinzley[/name] and I love [name]Waverly[/name]. [name]Even[/name] though I’ve never heard the latter until now, it sounds like it comes from an actual (British) word/place, and my research confirms that it is indeed, from Old English. Saying that it sounds like [name]Kinzley[/name] is “true” in that there are some sounds in common between the names. But by applying that logic, you could say that “[name]Katherine[/name]” is much like “Kezeraine” (a monstrosity I’ve made up on the spot).
And by the way, looking at some other posts on [name]Waverly[/name] Witches or whatever the show name is–don’t worry about that either. I have no children and have never, ever heard of the show, and it seems it’s already off air. [name]Will[/name] be in absolutely no one’s memory past the generation who had young kids from about 2007-2011, I would hope!
To me, [name]Aurelia[/name] is pretty, but a little too flowery.
[name]Kinzley[/name] and [name]Waverly[/name] are not remotely in the same league!! [name]Kinzley[/name] sounds like a sad, made-up, trashy name. [name]Waverly[/name] is a real name, with real meaning, history and beauty. It is sophisticated; unique yet accessible; a real show-stopper without trying to be; intelligent and classy. I can’t say enough that I love it and think it is everything [name]Kinzley[/name] (ugh I dislike even typing it) is not.
I prefer it by far to your other options. [name]Hannah[/name] is so done - they are so many Hannahs. [name]Claire[/name] is okay but not nearly as interesting, spunky or arty. I’ve never been a fan of [name]Aurelia[/name]. It reminds me both of oral and areola.
Go for [name]Waverly[/name]! [name]Don[/name]'t doubt!
PS I know a darling [name]Waverly[/name], age 6.
PPS Please let us know what you decide.
I love [name]Waverly[/name]! and I don’t think it sounds much like [name]Kinzley[/name] at all, other than the ending, and there are tons of names with that ending that are completely different from each other in taste and origin. I agree with the general opinions on [name]Kinzley[/name], and think that [name]Waverly[/name] is an all round much better name than that. In my opinion, [name]Hannah[/name] and [name]Claire[/name] are rather boring and overused, and in [name]Aurelia[/name] I just hear Oh-Really-a.
I like [name]Waverly[/name]. I have also meet an [name]Ainsley[/name] which I thought was cute. I also think [name]Kinzley[/name] is trashy. I not a huge fan of [name]Claire[/name] or [name]Hannah[/name].
I’ve never been a fan of Aurelia. It reminds me both of oral and areola.
Thank you!! I thought the SAME thing! lol
I completely agree. The other names are much better in my opinion.
[name]Waverley[/name] is NMS, but it is a nice name. Especially with the alliteration, it flows beautifully. Although I do like [name]Aurelia[/name], and it flows well with your surname, and I would choose that, but that’s simply a matter of preference.
This was my thought as well!
Are you still there? I hear the clock ticking and thought I’d weigh in. I like the name [name]Waverly[/name] but it is a bit of a guilty pleasure. It’s far superior to [name]Kinzley[/name] but – I guess this is what’s bothering you – does have that same airbrushed surname feel and the trendy -ly ending (which doesn’t have to be spelled -ly). It’s kind of the best of the huge wave of post-[name]Ashley[/name] names, which range from [name]Hadley[/name] to [name]Brinleigh[/name] ad infinitum.
[name]Aurelia[/name], [name]Claire[/name], and [name]Hannah[/name] are by contrast traditional girls’ names…duh. But, yes, [name]Hannah[/name] has been so widely used for a quarter century I don’t think you want to go there – it’s kind of this generation’s [name]Anne[/name] – and [name]Claire[/name] is lovely but a bit bland.
[name]Aurelia[/name] is really the best choice. If you’re choosing between [name]Aurelia[/name] and [name]Waverly[/name], I have to vote for [name]Aurelia[/name] especially if you’re having such serious reservations about [name]Waverly[/name]. Perhaps you could call her [name]Aurelia[/name] [name]Waverly[/name] and if you have a serious change of heart, you can call her [name]Waverly[/name].
Good luck!
