Last Minute Switch- Our name was used!!

Our perfectly picked name, [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Kit[/name_u], is now off the list. A good friend of ours just named her daughter [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] and she will be going by [name_u]Kit[/name_u]. I think I’m mourning the loss as we were so set! [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Girl is due in 1.5 months. We need some help choosing a new combination, and hopefully we can come around to loving it just as much. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is definitely her first name- my mother’s name is [name_u]Lisa[/name_u].

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]- Hubby threw this one out so that he could call her “Junebug.” His mom’s name is [name_u]Joan[/name_u] and she goes by [name_u]Jodi[/name_u], so [name_u]June[/name_u] could honor the name [name_u]Joan[/name_u]. I’m not the biggest fan because it seems a little “country” sounding to me. Also, we have already honored her side of the family by our son’s middle name.

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f]- This little girl will be breaking a 75 year all-male streak on my husband’s side. The last female was named [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. Our last name begins with “B,” sounds like “[name_m]Barker[/name_m],” and to me this might be too clunky?

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u]- No honor behind this, we just liked the combination. Also may not go with our last name as smoothly as others.

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_m]Davis[/name_m]- [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]’s last name was [name_m]Davis[/name_m]. This is also the middle name of Hubby’s twin brother.

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] Carlile- Maybe too much of a mouthful? Honors two people in the family, a [name_m]Carl[/name_m] and a Lile.

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]- No meaning behind this other than the absolute [name_f]JOY[/name_f] we felt when finding out she was a girl. It’s also sweet sounding.

Help me love one of these!!

I like the [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] from your list the best!! I also like

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] Scotlyn

I’m sorry to hear that! You must be gutted, but the good news is you have a whole load of fantastic alternatives on your list

My favourites are:

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u]: the perfect spunky, tomboyish alternative to [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Kit[/name_u], [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. If you want a name with exactly the same feisty, funky feel, my vote goes to this.

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]: beautiful sound, lovely flow, and I really love the sentiment behind this! It feels a bit girlier and more vintage-retro than [name_u]Kit[/name_u] and [name_u]Scout[/name_u], but it’s equally lovely.

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] & [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] definitely flow the best from your list

I also love [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u].

Other names I think go with [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] -

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Blair[/name_u]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f]

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u] are my favourites- they both have a similar feel to [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Kit[/name_u] and they both sound brilliant

I love [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_u]Scout[/name_u]… I also like the sound of [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f].

Other names similar to [name_u]Kit[/name_u]:
[name_u]Kai[/name_u]
[name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
[name_f]Jade[/name_f]
[name_m]Fox[/name_m]
[name_u]Brooke[/name_u]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f]

would your daughter be known by her middle name? Or by her first and middle name? Personally, I don’t see any reason why you would have to change it

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u] is perfect. I agree it has the same feeling as [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Kit[/name_u]. Its beautiful and sweet, but also very spunky and cool.

I also really like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]!
(also think [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f] is beautiful & full of meaning, but you said it might not go best with your last name! if that doesnt bother you, I really like this combo!!)

I really like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]! The one syllable ‘J’ middle name seems to flow so well. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u] sounds super cute and spunky too!

I love [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]! It’s such a happy, cute name! [name_f]Every[/name_f] time you say it you’re reminded of happiness

FWIW, I think you can still use [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Kit[/name_u], especially if she’s going to go by her first name. That said, I like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u], and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u] a lot.

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u] absolutely has the same feel to it as [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Kit[/name_u]! It seems like a great option if you feel that [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Kit[/name_u] is a definite no-go now.

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_m]Davis[/name_m] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] are my other two favourites from you list–[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_m]Davis[/name_m] has a a great rhythm to it, and the family connection makes it all the sweeter. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f], like everyone else has said, is such a bright happy combo that you can’t help but smile, and if your [name_f]MIL[/name_f] is a [name_u]Joan[/name_u] who goes by [name_u]Jodi[/name_u], I think [name_f]Joy[/name_f] could legitimately ‘count’ as an honour name for her, too.

Given what you said about [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f], I’m not sure these would suit your style, but I’ll mention them anyways–I assume [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is out, but [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] or [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Amabel[/name_f] could also honour your family’s [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. [name_u]Joan[/name_u] nn [name_u]Jo[/name_u] is my very favourite girl’s name, so to me, [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Joan[/name_u] or [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] would be contenders

1. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u]
2. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
3. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_m]Davies[/name_m]

I like something more boyish as a middle name for [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], like…
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_m]Fox[/name_m]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_m]Mac[/name_m]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_m]Fate[/name_m]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Oak[/name_u]

Other ideas: [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Coco[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Fable[/name_u].

I like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]. I don’t think [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is too country. I also like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] mentioned by others.

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is really great. I also like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] and I think [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] could work. [name_u]Jo[/name_u] strikes me having some of the same qualities that make [name_u]Kit[/name_u] appealing.

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is beautiful! If I have a little girl her middle name would be [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is a short and sweet middle name.

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u] or [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]!

If I were you, I might still think of using [name_u]Kit[/name_u] in the middle. But if it just doesn’t feel right any more, I love [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f], too!

I also think [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] captures some of the unisex verve of [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Kit[/name_u], and would be an honor name for [name_u]Jodi[/name_u]/[name_u]Joan[/name_u]

I also thought of [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], because [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is only of my favorite unisex names, and—for me at least—feels somewhat in line with [name_u]Kit[/name_u].

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]!
