Last name for a male character?

Umm, hi. I’m new here I guess, haha.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to give me surname suggestions for a character named [name]Dave[/name] or [name]David[/name]?

I’m hoping for something that sounds… professional and respectable/traditional? At the same time, I’d like it to be something that’s not too stiff sounding, kind of cool.

I’m finding it a hard balance to strike, and I’d appreciate any help you could give

Hey, welcome! I was actually just doing the same thing, finding a surname for one of my male characters. What I usually do is type ‘surnames’ or ‘surname’ into the search box, or look for names on the lists that could also be surnames. What enthnicity is [name]David[/name]? I’m just gonna list a few that I like:

[name]Fisk[/name]
[name]Birch[/name]
[name]Hayes[/name]
[name]Calloway[/name]
[name]Delancey[/name]
[name]Newbold[/name]
[name]Seeley[/name]

Obviously, there’s tons more. You could decide ethnicity and follow that by typing it into the search box. Good luck

[name]Welcome[/name] to nameberry!

[name]Sterling[/name]

[name]Xavier[/name]
[name]Bennett[/name]
[name]Elliott[/name]
Adcock

Hai, welcome to the site! Heh, my dad’s name is [name]David[/name] (goes by [name]Dave[/name]) so this was an interesting one to think about. I came up with a few I thought sounded nice.

[name]David[/name] Stark - Stark being in old English surname meaning “firm and unyielding”
[name]David[/name] McMahon - It’s a traditional Irish surname, and quite frankly I think it sounds quite professional.
[name]David[/name] [name]Wells[/name] - Really, I don’t think you can go wrong with [name]Wells[/name] as a last name. I see it used for both low society and high society. It can sound professional, but it’s also simple and not very intimidating.
[name]David[/name] [name]Knight[/name] - Arguably a bit cliche, but things are cliche for a reason, and that’s because they work. Using [name]Knight[/name] for a last name gives you plenty of options in your writing. I love the last name, and love meeting people who carry the name.
[name]David[/name] [name]Windsor[/name] - It sounds professional, and has a lot of history in [name]Britain[/name]

I think something important to remember is that a last name can hold whatever weight you want it to. Take a last name that sounds interesting to you, and when you introduce it into your story, give it a reputation. It’s all in your presentation. Good luck!
