So I recently found out that I am pregnant! We are so excited but now thinking of names that go with our last name is harder than expected! Obviously I can’t use names that have -ly at the end. [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] is terrible! I definitely need help.
Another problem is that I tend to like more uncommon names. I loved the name [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] but now I’m a bit turned off because of its popularity, especially in my area.
One name that I love so so much is [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. I don’t like [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] too much. It still sounds like a grandma name to me. Since [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] isn’t even in the top 1000 it makes me feel like it’s too much. Does [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] sound terrible as well? I’m also having trouble with thinking of a sister name for [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] too. Cohesive sibling names are important to me. If we have a boy ever, he will most likely be named [name_m]Felix[/name_m].
Others I like are:
Esmé
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
What do you guys think of [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] in general? Would it fit on an adult? With people naming their children names like [name_f]Kinsley[/name_f] now a days it can’t be too bad, right?
This probably doesn’t matter but just so you can get a picture of what our little one will look like, the father is Chinese/Filipino and I am white!
Thank you guys in advance! Sorry for the essay. I’ve been a lurker for a couple years but now have an actual reason to post!!
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] isn’t the greatest flow but I think it’s OK. I personally prefer [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] since it seems more classic, but [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is cute. I think it works on an adult. Of your other options I like [name_f]Esme[/name_f] and [name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] dont sound good to me, sorry
I dont like the sound of [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] either
All the others sound lovely, my personal favorites are [name_f]Esme[/name_f] and [name_f]Flora[/name_f]
Also yes, I can picture [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] on an adult just fine
Congratulations! I hope it all goes smooth and well :).
I do agree with you that [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] seems to be getting more popular, but it is a beautiful name! And I think [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] sound fine, kind of beautiful actually. Normally most of us name nerds try to avoid “rhyming” names or repeating sound, but some of them actually sound really nice!
I am with you, I prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] to [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] too! [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] might sound a bit cute or nicknamey because of the ending -ie, but it works fine on it’s own. I’ve heard of other people using it. And I do think it can age into adulthood just fine :).
All in all, I really think you should go with [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] if that’s what you love! If you want a few more ideas, maybe sisters for [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]

You also have very lovely names on your Like list. All the best!
How about Iris or Phoenix? I think names that end in consonants are the way to go to avoid the first name flowing into the last name.
I think [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] sounds wonderful!
