We’re expecting a baby boy. His last name will be [name]Smith[/name] so we’re looking for a somewhat unusual first name, and possibly something Swiss (my husband’s heritage). Our top name right now is: [name]Uli[/name]. Middle names: [name]Clement[/name] or [name]Conrad[/name]. Is [name]Uli[/name] too unusual? [name]Will[/name] he be teased? We’re also thinking about first names [name]Cato[/name] or [name]Nathaniel[/name].
The only [name]Uli[/name] I’ve ever known was a woman, so while I don’t think its too unusual, I personally would read [name]Uli[/name] and think ‘girl’ instead of ‘boy’. [name]Love[/name] [name]Clement[/name] and [name]Conrad[/name] as middles, and [name]Cato[/name] is interesting as well.
My favorite is [name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]Conrad[/name].
I think [name]Uli[/name] might be teased in the US. What about using that for a mn or maybe using [name]Ulysses[/name] and Uly? I like all your other options and think you could use them with [name]Uli[/name] as a mn.
I like [name]Cato[/name] and [name]Nathaniel[/name] but i think [name]Cato[/name] [name]Conrad[/name]/ [name]Cato[/name] [name]Clement[/name] is a little much. [name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]Conrad[/name] is very handsome though.
Swiss names i like:
[name]Edon[/name]
[name]Jeton[/name]
Leotrim
[name]Lukas[/name]
Bartleme
Toveli
I can’t say if he’d be teased. I think kids will be suprised by his unique name and might focus on the “U” beginning if they were to tease.
I have never heard of [name]Uli[/name] before, so I looked up on NB. It’s a form of [name]Ulric[/name] ([name]Ulrich[/name]). [name]Do[/name] you like the full verson? I think that is a little easier for a child to carry because it’s a big longer and contains a more familiar “ric” at the end. I do think [name]Uli[/name] [name]Conrad[/name] and [name]Uli[/name] [name]Clement[/name] sound really cool though! It’s definitely a unique and neat name. The C ending in [name]Ulric[/name] doesn’t work with your C middle names though.
[name]Cato[/name] [name]Clement[/name] or [name]Cato[/name] [name]Conrad[/name] are interesting too. I like [name]Clement[/name] there most. Have you considered [name]Clement[/name] or [name]Conrad[/name] as first name.
Thanks for your thoughts! My current fave is [name]Cato[/name] [name]Wesley[/name]. But my DH really likes [name]Uli[/name] (though not [name]Ulrich[/name]).
It’s interesting (and I like [name]Clement[/name] as mn), but am hoping it’s not pronounced you-lie!
