Last Syllable Rhyming?

If there’s a thread on this already please refer me to it.

[name_m]How[/name_m] do we feel about the last syllable in the first name rhyming with the last syllable in the last name? Is it an automatic deal breaker.

Our last name is pronounced Fal-uh-set-e. Are names like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], and [name_f]Emily[/name_f] immediately unusable because of the rhyming?

I don’t think so! I think they’re totally fine  I would avoid using them for every single child, but even then, it’s not that big of a deal. I mean, I’d probably stay away from things like [name_f]Juliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Mariana[/name_f].

I think in your case it sounds fine. Like alliteration (I forget what rhyming the last syllable is called), it’s dependent on the names. My birth name was three names ending in A, all three syllables, but it sounds just fine. SO’s first and last name start and end with the same sound, and again, it works. I’m not sure what makes some work and others not, I just know it when I hear it.

It doesn’t totally bother me! I think the most important thing is that you like the name and it sounds right. My name is [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and my last name ends in “en” and sometimes people call me [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f] -en or [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] -line…it’s rather irritating. They like it to rhyme, haha.

I don’t actually think your surname rhymes with any of the names you have listed - they just end with the same sound. To me that sound absolutely fine but you’d maybe want to avoid names ending in -tee or eh-tee because they would be closer to rhyming with your surname. For example I think Emliy would sound fine with your surname but someting like Arietty would sound a bit odd.

[name_m]Both[/name_m] my first name and last name end in a -ney, and even my middle name is [name_f]Marie[/name_f]. So all end in the same sound, but I think it works ok.
