I know I’ve posted asking for opinions on names a couple times for DS2 already but we have officially narrowed it down to our final two options…And now we’re stuck!
We love [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] because we think of it as a strong, irish name, but we don’t want him to get teased since it’s primarily thought of as a girl’s name nowadays.
We love [name_m]George[/name_m] because it’s a classic, old fashioned name, but have a hard time picturing it on a baby/little since it sounds so old. We also don’t want people to call him Curious [name_m]George[/name_m] all the time.
DH is leaning towards [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], where as I’m completely torn.
DS1’s name is [name_u]August[/name_u], and our last name is McM*****.
[name_m]George[/name_m] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] sounds absolutely gorgeous, especially with what I suspect is a beautiful Irish surname (McM***) - [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] as a mn reinforces the “Irishness” but [name_m]George[/name_m] keeps it universal ! Besides, [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]George[/name_m] make for a very elegant and classic sibset, and I think they sound sightly better together than [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_u]Kelly[/name_u].
I wouldn’t be too worried about “Curious [name_m]George[/name_m]” teasing - first because there are worse characters to be compared to (he’s a cute monkey, after all!) , second because kids (or adults for that matter) who want to find fault with a name (or anything else) will find fault no matter what, and I’m sure little [name_m]George[/name_m] (or little [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] if that’s your choice eventually) will know how to defend himself!
Good luck with the final choice, but you have two very good options anyway!
[name_m]George[/name_m] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] is a brilliant name. I agree that [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]George[/name_m] are a lovely pair.
I too vote [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]. I think it sound SO nice together. The [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] gives the [name_m]George[/name_m] a fun, fresh spin, and [name_m]George[/name_m] offers [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] some masculinity and some stability. [name_f]Love[/name_f] that. I too agree that it goes well with [name_u]August[/name_u].
I would pick [name_m]George[/name_m]. And it’s honestly because I love [name_m]George[/name_m], and I love [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], and I think stylistically [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]George[/name_m] are great together. I have troubles liking [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] (even though I usually like unisex names on boys–[name_u]Bailey[/name_u] and [name_u]Avery[/name_u] are both on my short list!). It’s one of the few unisex names that I don’t really like on girls, but I still can’t really see it on a guy, either (which makes me sad!). [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]'s cool, but I just like [name_m]George[/name_m] a lot better, and I feel like [name_m]George[/name_m] goes better with [name_u]August[/name_u], too. I would love to see [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] (just because I love it so!), but [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] is cool.
With an irish sounding last like yours seems to be, [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] for a boy works great. I actually know two [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]’s. Ones a pretty rugged, martial arts beast of a guy. the other is a girl who was named after her father [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]. (Well I guess I met her dad so I know three).
Also with names like [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] and [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] being unisex you just need to teach your son to not get defensive and instead tell kids who want to tease him that they are stupid as it’s a unisex name and all the cool people know that. Duh!!! lol.
I prefer [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]- handsome and strong but soft. I’d rather meet a [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] than a [name_m]George[/name_m] though, personally, and can see one of either gender. Would you consider [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] [name_m]George[/name_m]? [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] is nice but seems too harsh and [name_m]Wild[/name_m] [name_u]West[/name_u]-esque next to classy, proper, British [name_m]George[/name_m].
[name_m]George[/name_m] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] sounds great. There’s a little boy at my school named [name_m]George[/name_m] and no one calls him Curious [name_m]George[/name_m], we all just joke and call him [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] (if anything).
[name_m]George[/name_m] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] is excellent, and I love the idea of brothers named [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]George[/name_m].
I do like [name_u]Kelly[/name_u], but [name_m]George[/name_m] goes better stylistically with a brother named [name_u]August[/name_u]. I don’t think you’ll have a problem with people calling hims Curious [name_m]George[/name_m]. What about [name_m]Kellan[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m]?
