This morning I woke up thinking that I had to add a birth announcement for our second daughter before the year ended! Its way overdue. But first off, I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all the creative minds out there who contributed in the forums to our name journey. Naming number 2 wasn’t any easier than number 1, even though I dreamed it would be! I think I just love too many names…
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] joined us on [name_f]May[/name_f] 14th, 11 days early and very speedily! I arrived at the hospital at 9cm dilated. We checked in at 10am, and I delivered her at 11:20am. My husband and I still laugh about how fast she came and how close we were to a home birth. For those of you having your second baby, yes, it can be a lot easier than the first!!!
My husband suggested [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] on the way to the hospital and that was a main contender until we decided we both didn’t really love [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] or [name_f]Nola[/name_f] as nicknames. So it took the middle spot and is still really special. My father trimmed a [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] tree in the yard and it makes me think of him. I also love the beautiful, sweet smelling blooms and how resilient they are. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is a name we both adore and its also my birthstone. We also loved some of the biblical scriptures, esp Proverbs 3:15, that connects it to her sister’s biblical name in a non-matchy kind of way. “She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.”
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is almost 7 months old now and honestly, such a gem. She can light up a whole room with her smile. Her big sis, [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], is only 18 months older so I have my hands and heart very full.
