Looking for suggestions, and opinions on these. My husband and I are TTC our first, and here are my latest name crushes, plus his comments on them. He is going to be IMPOSSIBLE to work with when naming a baby! But in the end, he is such a sweetheart that he will give in to whichever name I decide I love, and he can be easily swayed to love it too.
Boys:
[name]Jeremiah[/name] – He says, “A homeschooler’s name.” My remark, “Well then it will be perfect, because guess what…”
[name]Jordan[/name] – “It’s alright.”
[name]Porter[/name] – “Like a person who carries things?”
[name]Toby[/name] – “[name]Noe[/name].” (This is a joke that only [name]Little[/name] House on the [name]Prairie[/name] fans will get, because of the character [name]Toby[/name] [name]Noe[/name] who appears in a few episodes.) Apparently [name]Toby[/name] is out.
His suggestions: [name]Daphne[/name] and [name]Trevor[/name]. He has also brought up [name]Amy[/name], [name]Diana[/name], [name]Michael[/name], and Haytham (<<where on earth did he get this from??).
[name]Mazarine[/name] (exotic and mysterious)
[name]Daphne[/name] (not too common mythological name. Great alternative to [name]Penelope[/name] and [name]Phoebe[/name])
I like…
[name]Trevor[/name] (I like this old Welsh name)
[name]Jeremiah[/name] (a strong Biblical name)
[name]Roxanne[/name] (I prefer [name]Roxanna[/name] myself)
[name]Verity[/name] (spunky name with a great meaning)
[name]Porter[/name] (I prefer it as a mn choice)
[name]Diana[/name] (this classic name is really underused)
[name]Amy[/name] (literary connection to [name]Little[/name] Women)
[name]March[/name] (I like this as a mn but not with [name]Mazarine[/name]. It kind of drags the name down a bit)
I dislike…
[name]Cambria[/name] (unfortunately the similar sound of car Toyota [name]Camry[/name] overshadows the ancient name for [name]Wales[/name])
[name]Michael[/name] (bland due to its immense popularity for so many years)
[name]Jordan[/name] (trendy unisex name)
[name]Toby[/name] (only as a nn for [name]Tobias[/name]/[name]Tobiah[/name])
Haytham (FYI - Arabic name meaning “proud”. Pronounced as three-syllables not two)
[name]Jeremiah[/name] - good, solid name with a lot of history. I don’t hear it that often, which is a plus.
[name]Jordan[/name] - also a solid name with a lot of history - it’s number 55 on the popularity list for boys here in Ohio, and I have college students with the name. It seems pretty bulletproof.
[name]Daphne[/name] - Very pretty name. My favorite off the girls list.
I think [name]Michael[/name] would make a strong middle name. [name]Trevor[/name] is okay. I do like [name]Verity[/name], but as a first name.
[name]Jeremiah[/name] – He says, “A homeschooler’s name.” My remark, “Well then it will be perfect, because guess what…”
You guys are funny! I’m with your husband on this one though!
[name]Jordan[/name] – “It’s alright.”
Not my style. I do like [name]Jordana[/name] on a girl though. And [name]Gordon[/name] is kinda cool if you can get past the fisherman thing
[name]Porter[/name] – “Like a person who carries things?”
I think of [name]Porter[/name] Wagoner which is cool…but I also think of how unfortunate this would be on a portly boy
I like it! Never saw that show though!
Girlies:
[name]Mazarine[/name] [name]March[/name] – “What?? No!”
I love [name]March[/name] in the middle! I love Marzio on a boy & [name]Marjorie[/name] on a girl but not into [name]Mazarine[/name]
[name]Roxanne[/name] – “Better than Maza-whatever.”
I love it! Really love [name]Roxanna[/name] more. I love [name]Axelle[/name] too.
[name]Cambria[/name] [name]Verity[/name] – “[name]Cambria[/name] sounds weird.”
Think of that band Coheed & [name]Cambria[/name].
His suggestions: [name]Daphne[/name] and [name]Trevor[/name]. He has also brought up [name]Amy[/name], [name]Diana[/name], [name]Michael[/name], and Haytham (<<where on earth did he get this from??).
I like Diana. Axelle Diana is really pretty & strong.
[name]Love[/name] name [name]Jordan[/name]. I don’t care for the others but that’s bc I’m picky. I would choose [name]Jordan[/name] for our baby but it’s already taken by my SS. Lol That’s my two cents.
I love [name]Daphne[/name], it’s a new “name crush” of mine. Your boy names aren’t really my style, but I like [name]Toby[/name] best. What about [name]Tobias[/name] instead of [name]Toby[/name] or [name]Micah[/name] instead of [name]Michael[/name]?
