Crushing on these names for a while now… thoughts?
[name_m]Davis[/name_m]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
Stefen

I adore [name_m]Davis[/name_m].
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] is nice. I have a nephew named [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] but it is not something I would use personally.
I am not a fan of the spelling Stefen. I prefer [name_m]Stefan[/name_m]. It’s not a name I would choose but there is nothing wrong with it.

[name_m]Davis[/name_m] - sleek with just a hint of outdoorsy-ness - reminds me of [name_m]Hollis[/name_m] and [name_m]Rhys[/name_m]

[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] - classic and friendly with versatile nicknames

Stefen - it depends on the pronunciation. If it’s Stee-vun, I find it a bit slimy (no idea why), life Steff-un, I find it grounded and gentle but strong

Steff-un:)

[name_m]Davis[/name_m] - I really like it, though I prefer [name_m]Daveth[/name_m] a little more.
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] - nice and classic. I like the nn [name_m]Ricky[/name_m] for it.
Stefen - prefer [name_m]Stefan[/name_m] myself.

[name_m]Davis[/name_m] - I really like [name_m]David[/name_m], but [name_m]Davis[/name_m] is somehow more playful and sophisticated at the same time, and has not been overused/doesn’t feel dated like poor [name_m]David[/name_m]!
(I also really like [name_m]Davey[/name_m] for almost all those reasons minus the sophisticated vibe).

[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] - gorgeously vintage! [name_f]Love[/name_f] the nns [name_m]Freddie[/name_m] & [name_m]Freddie[/name_m] & they could also go by [name_m]Rick[/name_m] or [name_m]Ricky[/name_m] if preferred.

Stefen - similar to [name_m]Davis[/name_m], I love this variant of [name_m]Stephen[/name_m]. It feels fresh and chic. It may get spelled [name_m]Stefan[/name_m] without a quick explanation each time but I don’t think that’s a big drawback.

The nicknames are a big part of why i like all these! [name_m]Freddy[/name_m], davey, stef…
I don’t really prefer one spelling of stefen to another, just want to minimize mispronunciations - to me stefan could elicit “stef-AHN” - thoughts?

Davis - I feel like it doesn’t make sense that I love this, but I really do! I met a Davis in Brazil years ago who was genuinely lovely to me when I was having a really hard time with something, so it’s always stuck in my mind as kind, approachable, wise, and good-hearted. I don’t know that I’d use it myself, but I always smile when I see the name.

Frederick - having a big moment with Frederick myself! I’ve been loving Amias Frederic/Amias Frederick lately. I like the softness of the Frederic spelling but prefer the classic English pronunciation of Frederick. Freddie is SUPER adorable and I love him, and Frederick is so timeless and strong. Also love the tie to one of my favorite Jane Austen novels, Persuasion. Frederick Wentworth is one of my favorite fictional characters, I love him. There was a grandfatherly figure in my childhood that made quite an impact on my life, his name was Frederick too, so I like that it reminds me of him. He’s so timeless and cool and I just love Freddie! I don’t know that I’d use him as a FN yet but I do love him.

Stefen - prefer the Stefan spelling, but I do like him a lot! More than Stephen, anyway. Again, not sure I’d use him, but I’ve always been fond of him!

All three names are really lovely

ETA regarding the Stefan spelling/pronunciation: I could see the concern with stef-AHN but the one Stefan I knew in high school said his name like STEFF-an (if it matters, which I’m not sure that it does, but anywas, he was black). Because of him, I would more expect Stefan to be STEFF-an and Stefon to be steff-AHN but I would only say Stefan as stef-AHN if someone corrected me. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the comments!
You mention a pronunciation difference with the frederic/Frederick- can you explain?

Oh, in [name_f]French[/name_f], [name_m]Frederic[/name_m] is like freh-deh-REAK not FRED-er-ick/FRED-rick! I’m not sure if it’s legitimate as an [name_f]English[/name_f] spelling too… but I just think it looks prettier lol.

Agreed that you should get less assumptions/errors with pronunciation with Stefen vs [name_m]Stefan[/name_m].
