Lauren or Naomi

My husband and I are expecting our second baby girl this [name_u]July[/name_u] and have come up with [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] as contenders, but are torn between these two. We generally prefer classic names that are recognizable but that are not too trendy (as we don’t want for her to have to use her last initial to differentiate herself in class). Her sister’s name is [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]. Thoughts between these two, or any suggestions welcome!

[name_f]Rachel[/name_f] and [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] is a great fit. It’s exactly what you’re looking for- classic and recognizable but not too trendy- and I think the biblical [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] goes perfectly with [name_f]Rachel[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] because it’s a little less dated than [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]- unlike [name_f]Lauren[/name_f], which was a top 20 name for 20 years, [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] has never been super trendy.

I like [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], but I am biased because that’s my name! Having grown up with it, I have always loved it - everyone has heard of it and knows how to spell it (mostly!) but I rarely meet another [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] and I just think it’s a really pretty name. I wish there were more like it! I’m struggling to find a girl name at the moment!

[name_f]Rachel[/name_f] and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] for sure!

[name_f]Naomi[/name_f]. It’s very sweet and more unusual, making it a clear winner in my eyes.

I prefer [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], and I agree with PP that [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] seems a bit more dated. [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] is a very pretty name!

I like [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] more but [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] goes better with [name_f]Rachel[/name_f].

My vote goes to [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], but I may be biased (it’s my own name). I’ve rarely had spelling or pronunciation issues, and only met two other [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]'s in my whole life

It’s funny that your older daughter is named [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] because that’s one of my best friends’ name! (sorry that was completely unrelated)

Good luck and let us know what you decide!

I much prefer [name_f]Lauren[/name_f], of the two. It has a lovely sound. [name_f]Laura[/name_f] would also work well with [name_f]Rachel[/name_f]. I don’t personally like [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] much. [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Nadine[/name_f] are very attractive, and mean “hope”.

I love [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] and [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] as a sibset

I think [name_f]Laura[/name_f] would be a much better option that [name_f]Lauren[/name_f], which feels quite dated. [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] and [name_f]Laura[/name_f] is a lovely pair. While I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] it certainly goes well with [name_f]Rachel[/name_f].

So, would you consider:

[name_f]Laura[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Megan[/name_f]
[name_f]Amity[/name_f]
[name_f]Verity[/name_f]

[name_f]Rachel[/name_f] and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] make a wonderful sibset, as they are both Biblical classics.

Both are very pretty names, but I prefer [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] with [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] ([name_f]Rachel[/name_f] and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] seems a bit too biblical to me).

I like the suggestion of [name_f]Laura[/name_f]. [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] could also work well, as a more modern twist to [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] (but on second thought [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] and [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] might be too matchy).

[name_f]Rachel[/name_f] and [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]

or

[name_f]Rachel[/name_f] and [name_f]Laura[/name_f]

[name_f]Lauren[/name_f] is lovely and, in my opinion, timeless (i.e. not trendy or dated), but I like [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] even more. I think both [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] work well with [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] (and with each other as [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] or [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]).

I love [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]!

[name_f]Lauren[/name_f]! [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] and [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] sound nice together.

Absolutely [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]. It’s just such a special name. Also worth considering: while [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] are both fairly common names, [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] has a very unique sound. [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] will probably have classmates named [name_f]Layla[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Laura[/name_f], [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], [name_f]Leah[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f], etc…but [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] doesn’t really have any soundalikes.

[name_f]Naomi[/name_f] is NMS, & I’ve always loved the name [name_f]Lauren[/name_f], so I’m quite biased in favor of [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]. I also like the alternate spelling of [name_f]Lauryn[/name_f]. And I think that the combination of [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] works well…I like that rhythm & sound better than [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]. Good luck!
