I would pick [name]Lucerne[/name] because you get the nn [name]Lucy[/name], although nn for [name]Laverne[/name] could be Lavie or [name]Vera[/name], but it sounds dated

I think [name]Laverne[/name] is cute actually especially with nn [name]Vera[/name]! [name]Lucerne[/name] does not really appeal to me but [name]Lucy[/name] as a nn could be cute. [name]Laverne[/name] from [name]Laverne[/name] and [name]Shirley[/name] went by [name]Vernie[/name] sometimes

I can honestly say that I dislike both names immensely, however, I went with [name]Lucerne[/name], for the sole reason of being able to call her [name]Luce[/name] without much trouble at all.

[name]Laverne[/name] is less disliked though. [name]Lucerne[/name] is great for [name]Lucy[/name] though.

[name]Laverne[/name] sounds really dated to me, and while [name]Vera[/name] is a pretty nickname, I don’t see it as obviously as [name]Verna[/name]… [name]Lucerne[/name] feels more updated since it fits in with the place names ([name]Lucerne[/name], Switzerland) and offers [name]Lucy[/name] as a sweet, fresh nn.
