Layla or Daphne?

I’m 37 weeks pregnant and we don’t know the gender, but still haven’t narrowed in on a girl’s name. We are debating between [name]Layla[/name] [name]Jane[/name] and [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Marie[/name]. We like a more unique “girly” first name paired with a traditional middle name. Any thoughts on these two names? We seem to go back and forth each day!!

I love both equally, but I will choose [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Marie[/name] because I loathe [name]Jane[/name].

I love the name [name]Daphne[/name]! It’s my favorite name for a girl.

[name]Layla[/name] is kind of trendy-sounding, and I love the name [name]Daphne[/name], so I say [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Marie[/name]. [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Jane[/name] would be nice too.

[name]Daphne[/name]. While I love [name]Eric[/name] Clapton’s [name]Layla[/name], it falls in with [name]Lila[/name], [name]Lilla[/name], [name]Lillian[/name], [name]Lola[/name], [name]Lily[/name], [name]Lilly[/name], [name]Leighton[/name], etc. [name]Daphne[/name] is far more unusual; I like [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Marie[/name] and [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Jane[/name].

I like [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Marie[/name] better too, although I’d prefer [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Jane[/name] even more!

If you want unique I’d definitely go with [name]Daphne[/name] - I find [name]Layla[/name] to be more generic.

I’m in the minority here. I prefer the sound of [name]Layla[/name]. [name]Daphne[/name] makes me think of [name]Daffy[/name].

[name]Daphne[/name] [name]Marie[/name] gets my vote, as well. For many reasons: 1) I just like the name [name]Daphne[/name]. 2) I’m not big on [name]Jane[/name]. 3) While any name can get various spellings, [name]Daphne[/name] has 1 spelling that’s pretty clear. [name]Layla[/name] has many different spellings and would probably have to spell hers for people more often.

While I love both names, I think [name]Layla[/name] has many downsides whereas [name]Daphne[/name] barely has any. [name]Layla[/name] would get misspelled a lot and maybe even mispronounced, and it would also blend in with all the [name]Lily[/name] [name]Lila[/name] [name]Lilia[/name] [name]Lelia[/name] [name]Leela[/name] etc names of today. [name]Daphne[/name] is an underused classic that’s familiar but unique and not overdone. And it goes great with [name]Marie[/name]! I vote [name]Daphne[/name] all the way.

[name]Daphne[/name] [name]Marie[/name]. It’s unique, classy, and timeless.

For me it’s [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Marie[/name] by a mile though [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Jane[/name] would be perfection in my eyes, I have a cousin [name]Layla[/name] [name]Marie[/name] and she’s a very smart, outgoing girl and as wonderful as she is her name just isn’t my style I much prefer the beauty and grace and spunky yet somewhat elegant nature of [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Marie[/name] or as I’ve said [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Just[/name] my two cents
