Which spelling do you prefer? What middle names would you pair it with?

I know a [name]Leila[/name] and [name]Leilani[/name], who say their name [name]LEE[/name]-luh and lee-LAWN-ee. Although neither are correct (the ‘ei’ in Hawaiian makes the ‘ay’ sound), this spelling would cause a lot of confusion.
I like them both equally, but prefer [name]Layla[/name].

aurra-[name]Leila[/name] is also Arabic It is my mothers name and is pronounced [name]Lee[/name]-Lah. It is a gorgeous name.
I prefer [name]Layla[/name], it’s a lovely name. I like the suggestion of [name]Layla[/name] [name]Violet[/name].
I also prefer the look of [name]Layla[/name]. The one [name]Leila[/name] I know pronounces her name [name]Lee[/name]-luh.
[name]Laila[/name]/[name]Layla[/name]/[name]Leila[/name] is a funny one x_x It seems to have two separate roots, one Arabic and one Nordic. There’s also the Hawaiian Leilani (lay-lah-nee) but I’m leaving that one for now.

In conclusion it seems that (not counting changes in dialect as there are some modern Arabic based languages who use ‘lie-la’) that:
Classical Arabic pronunciation = ‘lay-la’ (with [name]Layla[/name] or [name]Laila[/name] as the spellings)
Nordic pronunciation = ‘lie-la’ (as [name]Laila[/name]) and ‘lay-la’ (as [name]Leila[/name]).
Neither root uses the ‘lee-la’ pronunciation.
The Germans seem to be the only anomaly, pronouncing [name]Leila[/name] as ‘lee-la’ which I find very odd (since nein is ‘n-eye-n’ and [name]Liesl[/name] is ‘lee-zl’) Of course, that gentleman could be an anomaly himself as his was the only [name]German[/name] entry.

My personal preference is the Arabic pronunciation with Laila as the spelling. 
I think there will be far less confusion about pronunciation with [name]Layla[/name]. For some reason, I really like nature names with [name]Layla[/name]

I actually like the look of [name]Leila[/name] better, as I find [name]Layla[/name] looks too phonetic to me, but I think if you want to enforce pronunciation, [name]Layla[/name] would always get [name]Lay[/name]-la while [name]Leila[/name] would possibly get [name]Lay[/name]-la, Lie-la and [name]Lee[/name]-la. So basically it’s down to how much you want to be correcting people: I find [name]Leila[/name] nicer but more problematic.
Wow this is very detailed. I’m becoming more partial to [name]Laila[/name] than [name]Leila[/name]. As much as I love [name]Layla[/name], the seemingly trendy spelling kind of puts me off.
I prefer [name]Layla[/name]! [name]Leila[/name] doesn’t look as nice and confuses me.

I will be the first one to go against the crowd and say [name]Leila[/name]. I prefer the way it looks 
I prefer [name]Layla[/name], as that’s the spelling I’m familiar with from the old Persian [name]Layla[/name] and Majnum poem (Layla and Majnun - Wikipedia). It doesn’t seem like a trendy spelling to me, as this spelling has been used for a very long time.
