Layne

Does anyone think [name]Layne[/name] is a pretty name for a girl? I am thinking of using [name]Layne[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] for my daughter, but my husband is wondering if it is only a boy’s name. I think it sounds pretty and feminine…and Laynie is a cute nickname!

Thoughts?

I think it would be lovely on a girl. I prefer the [name]Laine[/name] spelling and nn [name]Lainey[/name].

[name]Layne[/name] is kind of strange to me as a full name. It feels very incomplete, like it’s missing the “ee” sound at the end. I prefer [name]Elena[/name], [name]Milena[/name], [name]Linnea[/name], etc. for nn [name]Lainey[/name] (I like the [name]Lainey[/name] spelling, or even [name]Leni[/name]).

I had a teacher who named her daughter [name]Laine[/name].I think [name]Laine[/name] or [name]Layne[/name] is fine for a girl and I quite like it. I know a girl named [name]Elaine[/name] but has been called [name]Lainey[/name] her entire life…I didn’t even know her full name for a number of years!
