I’m hoping to have a second baby sometime soon. I’ve been musing over names and keep coming back to [name_f]Leah[/name_f]. Our other daughter is [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] and I kind of worry it doesn’t really “go.”
Thoughts? Middle names to match the vintage feel of [name_f]Anna[/name_f] dorothy? Last name is Rodgers.
Other names I’m considering are
[name_f]Emily[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Maureen[/name_f] (family name)
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
I love [name_f]Leah[/name_f]! It’s gorgeous, stunning and works well with [name_f]Anna[/name_f].
[name_f]Emily[/name_f] - too popular.
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] - honestly, I think it’s ugly.
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] this one, but I don’t like as [name_f]Anna[/name_f]'s sister.
[name_f]Elise[/name_f] - it’s okay.
[name_f]Maureen[/name_f] - I don’t like it.
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] - same as [name_f]Audrey[/name_f].
Middle names to go with [name_f]Leah[/name_f]:
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f].
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] [name_f]Philippa[/name_f].
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] (love this one).
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f].
I also like [name_f]Emily[/name_f] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] for you.
[name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Leah[/name_f] are delightful as sisters! The other one I would choose would be [name_f]Emily[/name_f], as it shared the same classic vibe as [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Leah[/name_f] do, imo.
To go with [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f];
I love the name [name_f]Leah[/name_f] and it goes well with [name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Emily[/name_f] - Too common
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] - I kinda like it
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] - No feelings
[name_f]Elise[/name_f] - Not a fan
[name_f]Maureen[/name_f] - Hate this
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] - I like it
I think [name_f]Leah[/name_f] is very sweet with [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. [name_f]Emily[/name_f] is far too common imo, and [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] is nms. [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] is lovely, and I don’t see it rising too much higher on the lists. I don’t like [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], but I do like [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], or [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], nn [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] (as my dd has as well)
Side note: have you considered something like [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f], or [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]? All classic, darling names that would fit as well. I would even look as far as [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] or a variation on [name_f]Mary[/name_f]/[name_f]Marie[/name_f].
I don’t love [name_f]Leah[/name_f]. I see it as quite limp and a bit “Mean Girl” compared to the strong, classic and delightful, [name_f]Anna[/name_f].
I would pair [name_f]Anna[/name_f] with [name_f]Emily[/name_f] or [name_f]Elise[/name_f] of your list ([name_f]Gemma[/name_f] is too close with the double letter and a-ending pattern you might have to keep going with, and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is pretty but think you should avoid another A name if you can). [name_f]Emily[/name_f] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f] both equally classic and pretty and I know [name_f]Emily[/name_f] is popular but I rarely meet any little ones.
Otherwise, [name_f]Mary[/name_f] nn [name_f]Molly[/name_f]/[name_f]Polly[/name_f] or just [name_f]Polly[/name_f], [name_f]Martha[/name_f] or [name_u]Marion[/name_u] - each could be a nod to [name_f]Maureen[/name_f]. I prefer these with [name_f]Anna[/name_f] than [name_f]Leah[/name_f].
I think if you love [name_f]Leah[/name_f], go with it. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] & [name_f]Leah[/name_f] definitely work together. I also like [name_f]Emily[/name_f] & [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] from your list. The only one from your list that I think really doesn’t go is [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] - save it for a middle name if it’s important to you! [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] is vintage, but [name_f]Anna[/name_f] on it’s own is not, so I think the first name that you pick doesn’t need to have a vintage feel.
I think [name_f]Leah[/name_f] is perfect with [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. Together they evoke colonial [name_u]America[/name_u] to me, simple classics that never go out of style. My next choice would be [name_f]Elise[/name_f].
