Lee for a first name?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_u]Lee[/name_u] can work as a first name? (I don’t like [name_u]Leigh[/name_u])

I think it works better as a middle name. It sounds very masculine to me.

It’s unfortunate you don’t like [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] because I think it works as a first name, but [name_u]Lee[/name_u] doesn’t. [name_m]Just[/name_m] my opinion though<3

I agree with posters above, I don’t see [name_u]Lee[/name_u] as working for a girl’s first name (while I see [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] as fitting) [name_u]Lee[/name_u] is too masculine for my taste. But if you are willing for a longer option I think options like [name_f]Coralee[/name_f], [name_f]Annalee[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalee[/name_f], etc. work with that spelling.

Where I live the spelling [name_u]Lee[/name_u] is usually for boys, and [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] for girls. I think [name_u]Lee[/name_u] could work for a girl (if you don’t mind having to explain it’s [name_u]Lee[/name_u] not [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]), but it does sound pretty dated to me. Personally I would pick a longer name and use [name_u]Lee[/name_u] as a nickname.

It’s not my favorite but I did know a girl named [name_u]Lee[/name_u] once. Her full name was [name_f]Leah[/name_f] but she told everyone to call her [name_u]Lee[/name_u]. It worked for her.

I think it’s perfectly fine.

I think it’s really cute, and I prefer that spelling as well, but I only know two people named [name_u]Lee[/name_u] with that spelling and they’re both male. I think most people would assume that [name_u]Lee[/name_u] is a boy just going off the name. So that’s the only problem but it could be a considerable one
It could be excellent as a nickname though!

Absolutely! I know two different women whose full first name is [name_u]Lee[/name_u] and it’s never seemed overly masculine or not like a full name to me. If you like it, go for it. I also agree with you about preferring this spelling to [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]–I always want to pronounce [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] as “[name_m]Lay[/name_m]”, especially because it was my childhood neighbors’ last name and their family pronounced the surname as [name_m]Lay[/name_m].

I think it’s fine. In my opinion, [name_u]Lee[/name_u] sounds better as a nickname (for [name_u]Leslie[/name_u], [name_f]Leah[/name_f], [name_f]Leanna[/name_f], etc) but it can work as a first name.

I like [name_u]Lee[/name_u] as a first name.
