I like both, so it is hard to choose which to put in my UC
Which do you prefer? Would appreciate if you tell me the reason.
Bonus if I can get some vibe checks, with emojis or not!

I prefer [name_f]Leni[/name_f] to [name_f]Lena[/name_f]. I find [name_f]Leni[/name_f] more sprightly, intriguing and artistic, and [name_f]Lena[/name_f] a little staid and remote (though perhaps more refined). Having said that, [name_f]Leni[/name_f] has the feel of a nickname to me while [name_f]Lena[/name_f] can stand firmer on its own. Both pretty names.
I would have said [name_f]Emilie[/name_f] for sure a few years ago (and for a long time before that) and I still find [name_f]Emilie[/name_f] (or [name_f]Emily[/name_f] for me) very appealing - she’s bookish, dark hair, blunt fringe, dry humour and attractive to me. But [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] has really grown on me - she sounds quite regal, but /and also open, well-adjusted and sunny, imagine her as a go-getter with a big smile!

What would you use [name_f]Leni[/name_f] as a nickname of? I am not very convinced of [name_f]Helena[/name_f] / [name_f]Elena[/name_f] because they are popular here (not in the UK/US). I am open to other ideas. [name_m]Even[/name_m] stretchy ones,
If not [name_f]Helena[/name_f] (not as popular where I am) or [name_f]Helen[/name_f], then probably [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f], [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f], Leonora/Leonor/Lenora/Lenore, [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], or [name_f]Faline[/name_f].
There’s also [name_f]Milena[/name_f], [name_u]Laurence[/name_u], [name_f]Leontine[/name_f], [name_f]Valencia[/name_f], [name_f]Valentina[/name_f], or [name_f]Eleni[/name_f].
You could use [name_f]Lena[/name_f] nn [name_f]Leni[/name_f] but not sure you’ll go for that?!

But don’t [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and [name_f]Leni[/name_f] have the same length? Could work though yes!
I have [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] and [name_f]Leonor[/name_f] on my lists, do you think [name_f]Leonor[/name_f] “Leni” can work?
I really like [name_f]Eleonora[/name_f] but it is SO used for young adults and teens right now, here…
So I will go with [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] and [name_f]Leonor[/name_f], do you think it can do?
[name_f]Milena[/name_f]! That is nice
[name_f]Valentina[/name_f] was a name popular in the 80s where I lived but I love [name_m]Valentin[/name_m] for boy!
[name_f]Faline[/name_f] and [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] are great! I prefer [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] to [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] but I will consider the other ideas
Thanks
I think a girl called [name_f]Lena[/name_f] would probably naturally get [name_f]Leni[/name_f] sometimes from friends etc. depending on pronunciation. Nicknames not always about shortening, usually about being affectionate or irreverent (in Australia, everyone gets a nickname, much to many parents’ frustration).
I love [name_f]Leni[/name_f] for [name_f]Leonor[/name_f] - makes total sense to me!
I get what you’re saying about [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] - a bit dated. I wouldn’t use any of the second group myself but all seem legitimate for [name_f]Leni[/name_f]! I must say if I were using [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f], it’d likely be [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] nn [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]. Easier ways to get to [name_f]Leni[/name_f]!

I think it might happen. A Maria I know is nicknamed naturally Mari. Anyways it would be sweet now that I think about it! Thanks for the suggestions. I was more thinking of shortenings but affectionate nicknames are sweet.
I am sure Valentina sounds so fresh in Australia, but in my country it was so used in the past time that I got tired of it (unlike some other vintage names), sorry!

Not really any Valentinas here but a few boys with [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] as a middle among the hip parents.

Nowadays [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] isn’t even in the tops anymore here but they were (I met a lot of Valentinas at school) so that is why I got tired of it, but I think [name_m]Valentin[/name_m] (b) is gorgeous in whatever spelling!
Thank you for your help!

[name_f]Lena[/name_f] is more timeless and global, so I prefer it to [name_f]Leni[/name_f].
I prefer [name_f]Emilie[/name_f] to [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], just because I hear it less often these days and I like the [name_u]French[/name_u] spelling.

[name_f]Leni[/name_f] & [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] for me!
[name_f]Leni[/name_f] is more unique and bright!
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] is a better name than [name_f]Emilie[/name_f] in IMO both because of elegance and the lower popularity.
[name_f]Leni[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] for me
[name_f]Leni[/name_f] for its light, warm feel. [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] for it’s bubbly, bright, international vibe.
[name_f]Lena[/name_f] > [name_f]Leni[/name_f], I think it is more elegant and I have an easier time picturing it on an adult. I actually prefer [name_f]Emily[/name_f] over other variants of the name, so I feel like I should like [name_f]Emilie[/name_f] over [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], but if those are the only two spelling options I’m inclined towards [name_f]Emilia[/name_f].
