My husband’s name is [name]Lenard[/name] (he usually goes by [name]Len[/name] or [name]Lenny[/name]). I love the name [name]Nora[/name] for a little girl. I’m due in 17 days and, even though we’ve picked either [name]Esme[/name] or [name]Cordelia[/name] for a girl, it occurred to me that we could name the baby [name]Lenora[/name] (nn [name]Nora[/name]) after daddy.
What are your honest thoughts?? Is [name]Lenora[/name] too dated??
I think that is sweet! I prefer [name]Leonora[/name] to [name]Lenora[/name] but I do like the idea. You could always use it as a middle name. [name]Esme[/name] [name]Lenora[/name]?
I like [name]Esme[/name] and [name]Cordelia[/name], but [name]Lenora[/name] (nn [name]Nora[/name]) to honor dad is a great idea too. I like the idea of using it as mn too-- although I think [name]Lenore[/name] works a little better-- [name]Esme[/name] [name]Lenore[/name] or [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Lenore[/name]. [name]Eleanor[/name] or [name]Eleanora[/name] seem to have the same sense as [name]Esme[/name] and [name]Cordelia[/name] and you could use one of those to honor and use [name]Nora[/name] as a nn for them too.
I love [name]Lenora[/name] and [name]Lenore[/name]! Beautiful name and meaning. I think it is a gorgeous way to honor her father. I don’t find it dated at all.,
[name]Lenora[/name] [name]Esme[/name] would be stunning. Especially with nn [name]Nora[/name].
[name]Esme[/name] [name]Lena[/name] could be nice as well.
Thanks for the feedback. I don’t even know if baby will be a girl. [name]Just[/name] have a feeling does anyone know what [name]Lenora[/name] means? On Nameberry it says “meaning unknown”. Other sites say “pity” which I find depressing and “bright oneor sunshine” which is lovely.
I think that [name]Lenora[/name] with the nn [name]Nora[/name] is really sweet! It sounds very charming and beautiful. [name]Esme[/name] is pretty too, but out of the two I really like [name]Lenora[/name]. Plus, there won’t be many [name]Lenora[/name]'s running around.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Lenora[/name]! I think [name]Eleanor[/name] would also work to honour daddy and get at the lovely [name]Nora[/name] nn. [name]Esme[/name] is very pretty, too. [name]Cordelia[/name] is a little too frilly for my taste, though that’s just me.
I think [name]Esme[/name] is a beautiful name (if very tied up with the Twilight phenomenon) and I love the idea of [name]Lenora[/name] to honour Dad.
Any combination of the two would be lovely imo, but for the unusual nature of [name]Lenora[/name], and the meaning behind it to you, I’d definitely use it as a first name.
Personally I love [name]Lenora[/name]!
I think she’s so pretty, airy and wholesome. [name]Lenora[/name] feels so natural and has this rural country feel. I also love the connection to your husband as well even though potentially could calling out [name]Lenora[/name] and [name]Lenard[/name] be a bit confusing?? Like calling out [name]Harley[/name] and [name]Hermione[/name] in the same household? Apart from that issue I think [name]Lenora[/name] is perfect. In a way because of this issue I would have her as middle name for [name]Esme[/name] ([name]Cordelia[/name] doesn’t work with [name]Lenora[/name]) [name]Esme[/name] [name]Lenora[/name] sounds really cute.
Information of [name]Lenora[/name]:
Variant of [name]Eleanor[/name] (Greek), [name]Lenore[/name] (Greek) and [name]Leonora[/name] (Greek) and has these meanings ‘sun ray; shining light; compassion; light’
I think it’s perfect - your honour her father, but by using [name]Nora[/name] for a nn, you keep the names that they go by day-to-day different enough to avoid confusion.
Definitely not dated in the least. Gorgeous and unique!! [name]Lenora[/name] [name]Esme[/name] (nn [name]Nora[/name]) would be my choice. So beautiful and extra meaningful. [name]Love[/name] it!
Thanks for all the positive remarks. It just occurred to me last night and the idea is growing on me. I think I’ll wait till baby is born and surprise my husband with the idea then
Tomorrow’s baby day. I think we will go with [name]Esme[/name] [name]Lenora[/name] if baby is a girl. I’ll keep you all posted!!! Thanks again for the help
I like both [name]Lenora[/name] (nn [name]Nora[/name]) and [name]Cordelia[/name]. [name]Lenora[/name] doesn’t sound any more dated than [name]Cordelia[/name] or [name]Esme[/name]. They’re all old-fashioned names ready for a comeback, I think
