[name]One[/name] of the names my husband and I both really like is [name]Leo[/name]. I’d use it on its own but our last name is a one-syllable L name and it would just sound too quirky. I’m okay with an L first name if it has 3 or more syllables however, but I’m not that into the typical names you get [name]Leo[/name] out of, such as [name]Leon[/name], [name]Leonardo[/name], [name]Leopold[/name], or even [name]Elliot[/name]. So since I’m being so picky I don’t mind stretching it a bit…what about [name]William[/name]…too much of a stretch? Any other good longer names you could think of that I could get [name]Leo[/name] or [name]Lio[/name] as nn? Thanks!
I’d guess it’s not to your taste, from what you say, but how about [name]Leander[/name]? Or [name]Llewellyn[/name] (which is a Welsh version of [name]Leo[/name])?
[name]William[/name] would work, maybe the name [name]Liam[/name]? ( little bit of a stretch, but could work)
I’m not too keen on [name]William[/name] —> [name]Leo[/name]. What about [name]Leonidas[/name]? I like the suggestion of [name]Leander[/name].
Any name with the “lee” sound could work, like [name]Leland[/name] or [name]Leander[/name]
[name]Judah[/name] (lion of [name]Judah[/name])
[name]Gryphon[/name] (half eagle, half lion creature)
[name]Daniel[/name] (in the lion’s den)
[name]Ari[/name]/[name]Ariel[/name]
Othniel
*This reminds me of [name]Leo[/name] from [name]Will[/name] & [name]Grace[/name], “Yep, my name is [name]Marvin[/name] but everyone calls me [name]Leo[/name].” There’s no rule that the nn has to come from the child’s real name.
