Leo the Lion

Hello there, yes… I know ([name_m]Lion[/name_m] the [name_m]Lion[/name_m]), but [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] is a character in my new short story, together with brother [name_m]Eli[/name_m] [name_m]Cecil[/name_m]. I just have a minor problem … The live in what used to be [name_f]England[/name_f], but is no longer and I don’t know what to call the country. Can you help? Thanks! I have a few things that might help you?

Time period: around the end of the 22nd century and start of the 23rd century.

What happened: In 21st century everything got crazy, there was laws for everything. There was no end to it. around 2740 there was war break-out which resulted in the 5th world war. There was no more [name_f]England[/name_f], [name_f]France[/name_f], [name_u]Sweden[/name_u] & so on. The story is based in the former [name_f]England[/name_f].

What’s society like now:[name_f]Earth[/name_f] is populated, people are everywhere. There is hardly any real houses left and people are living in tall buildings cramped together. Nature is running out, people are kidnapped from the streets if they look poor. People of the poor places believes that the world is coming to an end. Politicians are the most trusted people.

And then just to be nice here is the immediate family.

Immediate family: [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] Musgrove (Father), [name_f]Myra[/name_f] Musgrove (mother), [name_m]Eli[/name_m] [name_m]Cecil[/name_m] Musgrove (brother) & [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Effie[/name_f] Musgrove (sleeping sister †)

Thanks!

Hmm, well the island itself is called Great [name_m]Britain[/name_m] so maybe something like [name_f]Britannia[/name_f] or [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_u]London[/name_u]?

I like the idea of [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_u]London[/name_u], not [name_f]Britannia[/name_f], but I think it’s due to the hotels and I think I was on a ship. Hm… I’ll toss [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_u]London[/name_u] into the story and see how it sounds. I’m still open for suggestions! :3

Or perhaps the names of one of the surviving southern counties? Like…

[name_u]Bristol[/name_u]
Cornwall
[name_u]Devon[/name_u]
[name_m]Dorset[/name_m]
Hampshire
[name_f]Isle[/name_f] of Wight
Oxfordshire
[name_u]West[/name_u] Sussex
[name_f]East[/name_f] Sussex
[name_m]Kent[/name_m]
Somerset
Wiltshire
Berkshire
Surrey
Greater [name_u]London[/name_u]

I think Briticanna would work.

@Renrose, I like Somerset. A lot.

Lunacross, I’m not that fond of Briticanna, sorry. And I’ve realised one of my characters is named [name_f]Britney[/name_f], so now it seems even more awkward.

@lyraslife, you can always do [name_u]London[/name_u] United or something.

Have you thought of [name_m]Albion[/name_m]? Its an old name for Great [name_m]Britain[/name_m] that was occasionally used by classic writers. [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]Albion[/name_m] and Albionoria([name_m]Albion[/name_m] of the [name_u]North[/name_u]) were briefly considered as names for [name_f]Canada[/name_f].

[name_m]Albion[/name_m] is a good one I’ll write it down with Somerset, on my little piece of paper.
I’m going to use it, as soon as they announce the death of my character’s mother.
