Leo vs. Liam

Hello! My husband and I are expecting a very surprise little boy to complete our family which includes siblings [name_f]Stella[/name_f] & [name_f]Elise[/name_f] (twin girls). We both like the names [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_m]Liam[/name_m] as a given name, not a nickname due to our last name being quite long and complicated. Last name is three syllables, has an “L” in the first syllable, “AI” in the middle, and ends with “TIS” (no "O’s in last name). [name_m]Leo[/name_m] looks and sounds a bit better with the middle names we have chosen, which both have “O” in them, but I feel like [name_m]Liam[/name_m] goes better with our last name. I’m not as concerned about the “popularity” of [name_m]Liam[/name_m] right now, because even though it is popular, the actual number of babies getting this name is not as high as the popular names of the past (especially in our area). We want the style and sophistication of his name to be in line with the twins. Also very important to us that the name grow with the child. We’re also generally of the thought that given name should be what we will call them, rather than giving a longer more formal name and always calling them by a nickname. Very much appreciate your thoughts! Thank you!

We are considering [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. I like [name_m]Liam[/name_m], but its popularity has me concerned. Plus, I feel [name_m]Leo[/name_m] will age better. [name_m]Just[/name_m] my opinion.

I am team [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. Always loved the name and I think it is more interesting than [name_m]Liam[/name_m]. Plus has good full name choice like [name_m]Leonard[/name_m]/[name_m]Leonardo[/name_m]/[name_m]Leon[/name_m]/[name_m]Leopold[/name_m] you can give a full name and use [name_m]Leo[/name_m] as a nn too.

Team [name_m]Leo[/name_m] as well - i have a little [name_m]Leo[/name_m] myself so maybe I am biased, and I personally don’t like the name [name_m]Liam[/name_m] at all…tho there is absolutely nothing wrong with the name, i just don’t like it for some reason - and it is very very popular…if that is something that concerns you. I also think it sounds better with your girls names, which are gorgeous by the way! good luck and congrats!

I like both, but prefer [name_m]Liam[/name_m]. Despite its popularity, I think it ages better, and sounds nicer with your girls’ (lovely) names.

I much prefer [name_m]Leo[/name_m] (though I don’t dislike [name_m]Liam[/name_m]) - it ages well, and I think it works a little better with [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f]

[name_m]Leo[/name_m] sounds like the perfect fit with your family! [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], and [name_m]Leo[/name_m]

I love [name_m]Leo[/name_m]! [name_m]Liam[/name_m] has always been a popular name where I am from (UK) and I personally just don’t like it… in the end go with your gut feeling though! good luck!

[name_m]Leo[/name_m] all the way! It’s an incredibly perfect name that really works with your girls names. [name_m]Liam[/name_m] feels and sounds very dated.

I really like the name [name_m]Leo[/name_m]!

I love [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m]!!!
Perfect!!

All beautiful names! I don’t think you will go wrong with either, but my vote is for [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. It gives you a subtle celestial link for your sibset (star, pledged to God and an astrological sign). [name_f]Lovely[/name_f]

Thank you all so so much for your thoughts! And babyboy2017 I hadn’t even noticed that subtle celestial link. Thanks for pointing it out!
