Leonette?

Am I insane? I really like the sound of these names.

Lionette
[name]Lionelle[/name]
Leonette

Please discuss!

I never heard of this name. But I really like it too!!! I love .all the -ette names. My last name rhymes with funiciello like [name]Annette[/name] Funiciello

Personally im not big on ette names but this one is interesting, you might also like leonie and leocadie (im on my phone, can’t type accents right now)

I prefer LĂ©onie or LĂ©ontine to your three names. I think many of the -ette names are now considered unfashionable for some reason (eg. [name]Annette[/name], [name]Claudette[/name], [name]Lynette[/name], [name]Bernadette[/name], [name]Jeannette[/name], [name]Georgette[/name], [name]Paulette[/name], [name]Nanette[/name], [name]Henriette[/name], [name]Yvette[/name]). Some have managed to buck the trend but not many (eg. [name]Juliette[/name], [name]Violet[/name]/[name]Violette[/name]). I guess every trend has its day in the sun!

@mischa, ette names were very big in [name]France[/name] among a lot of people from the 30s-60s so they are considered dated, nor are they considered very sophisticated (i think this happens with all wide spread names) but I don’t think many of them ever were except by other countries. I would say guillemette, huguette, [name]Juliet[/name], and a few others are exceptions though.

I meant to say I think they’ve had their hey day and it will take a while for them to be appealing to the French but I guess they are fresh and interesting choices for americans and everyone else. I think the right ette name over here can be a great choice!

I know that a lot of names with the ette ending have a dated feel but that’s part of the appeal to me. I like all the ones you listed, [name]Misha[/name], EXCEPT [name]Violette[/name] & [name]Juliette[/name]! Maybe I’m a fustynamelover. Haha, everyone is different, right? I appreciate the honest feedback  Thanks everyone.

I am a nicknamer. What kind of short form could I use with Lionette, [name]Lionelle[/name], or Leonette? I can’t seem to shake these from my head or strike them from my lists. Thanks berries!

My hubby has a cousin named Leonette. She`s called [name]LeeLee[/name] for short.

I know a Lionella who goes by [name]Nella[/name]…

I don’t care for them personally, but then the only -ette name I can think of that i like is [name]Juliette[/name], and I wouldn’t use that one myself. Must not be my style! I do like [name]Leona[/name] a bit more. All I can see when I look at [name]Lionelle[/name] is [name]Lion[/name], and that doesn’t go with a girl name to me; looks like what you should call a female lion (I know it’s a lioness; that’s just what I think of). That’s just my opinion, but I certainly don’t think you’re insane!

Hahaha! Thanks for the vote of confidence, saraallison! I am kind of excited to hear about real life Lionella & Leonette. I love [name]Leelee[/name] and [name]Nella[/name] Thank you jesba & labmama. I thought [name]Leo[/name] might be cute on a little girl but I know a lot of people consider that an exclusively male name. Is [name]Lea[/name] a stretch or a fit as a nn? I also can’t really decide which one I would actually use because I think using one would cancel out the other two.

Lette, [name]Lita[/name], [name]Leta[/name], [name]Nell[/name], [name]Nellie[/name]

I really like Lionella, but none of the other variations.
