So I have a crush on the name [name]Leonie[/name] right now, it’s really pretty and uncommon. I do have a pronunciation issue, though- is it [name]LEE[/name]-oh-nee or lee-OH-nee?
Also, what mn’s do you think go with [name]Leonie[/name]? I like [name]Leonie[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Leonie[/name] [name]Violet[/name], and [name]Leonie[/name] [name]Clara[/name]. your thoughts? thanks!
Actually, I’m going to confuse you more because I pronounce it the French way “lay-oh-nee” which I think gives it a soft and more feminine sound. [name]Leonie[/name] [name]Violet[/name] is lovely!
I really like [name]Leonie[/name]! I think it’s a lovely name. The actual French pronunciation is more like ‘lay-oh-nee’ with a slight emphasis on the first syllable, but I say it more like ‘lee-OH-nee’. It’s funny you mentioned [name]Leonie[/name] [name]Violet[/name]-- I knew a [name]Leonie[/name] [name]Violet[/name] (actually, it might have been [name]Violet[/name] [name]Leonie[/name]… anyway). What about [name]Leonie[/name] [name]Cordelia[/name], [name]Leonie[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Leonie[/name] [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Leonie[/name] [name]Amelia[/name], [name]Leonie[/name] [name]Camille[/name], [name]Leonie[/name] [name]Celeste[/name], or [name]Leonie[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]?
My [name]German[/name] cousins pronounce their friend’s name [name]LEE[/name]-oh-nee, so that’s how I think of it. Very pretty! I think it might be on one of my lists.

Oh I love the sound of lay-oh-nee also. Shoot! Hmm. Oh well, it’s not like I have to make a decision or anything. I just love this name because it’s beautiful, uncommon, and actually ages very well. Thanks for the input
I prefer the lay-oh-nee prn too, since it doesn’t have the rhyming ee sound. I do say [name]Leona[/name] lee-oh-na though. I agree that [name]Leonie[/name] does age quite well!
