We like [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] but are concerned about the rate at which it has/is shooting up the charts and would like to avoid picking a name that ends up in the top 20 a few years down the line (my husband works with/knows approximately 1,000,000 people who have the same name).
Are there any names that either have a similar sound/style as [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] or remind it of you in some way but are a little less popular?
Other names that have stayed on our contenders list but aren’t sure if they are “the one”:
[name_u]Wallace[/name_u]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Fletcher[/name_m]
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m]
[name_m]Rupert[/name_m]
. I feel like we’ve gone over every name ever recorded and my husband has vetoed all that I like or we can’t use it for one reason or another.
Honestly I don’t think [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] is that popular at all. I live in a city of 430,000 people and I have never seen any kind of [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] except for seniors
How about [name_u]Arlo[/name_u]? It’s a smidge less popular in the US than [name_u]Arthur[/name_u], but that may just be enough to make you feel more comfortable
If you want a similar sounding name I would go with:
[name_m]Archie[/name_m]
[name_u]Archer[/name_u]
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m]
[name_m]Anton[/name_m]
[name_u]Adrian[/name_u]
[name_u]Arden[/name_u]
[name_m]Aldo[/name_m]
Harlow/Arlo
[name_m]Abel[/name_m]
I also feel like [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] is a great alternative
Where I live (mountain west United States), [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] is not popular I don’t think I’ve ever even met one, and I hear a lot of kids names!
[name_u]Walter[/name_u] is a name that reminds me of [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] 🩵
