Personally I love floral names, but a lot of the classics (Rose, [name_f]Violet[/name_f], Iris) feel quite widely used. A trip to the garden centre with my mum (my social life is just unbearably glamorous!) inspired me to note down some… less used… plant names - any of them stand out to you? How would you work them in to combos with your favourites? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you see any of these leaping up the charts??
Aubrieta
[name_f]Begonia[/name_f]
Bellis
[name_f]Calendula[/name_f]
Coreopsis
Cerinthe
Dianthus
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
Echinacea
Gaillardia
Gazania
Godetia
Setaria
Lavatera
[name_f]Verbena[/name_f]
Nicotiana (maybe not)
[name_f]Silene[/name_f]
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] is quite common where I live. I could see [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] and [name_f]Silene[/name_f] rising up the charts too, but probably not at the speed of light. I like both [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] and Aubrieta as names. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite less-used flower name is probably [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f].
For [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], I often see middles that repeat the ending sound such as:
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_f]Claudia[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
If I could give middles myself, maybe:
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_f]Leorit[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u]
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] [name_u]Poet[/name_u]
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u]
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] [name_u]Lark[/name_u]
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] [name_f]Callisto[/name_f]
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] I could see climbing the charts a bit. Not [name_f]Begonia[/name_f], [name_f]Calendula[/name_f], or [name_f]Verbena[/name_f] although they would all make nice names. [name_f]Peony[/name_f] and [name_f]Posy[/name_f] would also make good rarely used flower names.
this is what I do when I go to the garden centre with my ma
I like Aubrieta, Cerinthe, Dahlia, Verbena, Zinnia and Calendula. I could see Zinnia catching on - and maybe Dahlia, but probably pronounced differently. Aubrieta might work too
If I was to work them into combos:
Aubrieta Lois/Lois Aubrieta
Calendula Maren/Thisbe Calendula
Cerinthe Eliza/Juno Cerinthe
Dahlia Bronwen/Carys Dahlia
Verbena Mavis/Ingrid Verbena
Zinnia Phoebe/Anouk Zinnia
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] is on my list! I also really like Aubrieta, [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], Cerinthe, Setaria, [name_f]Verbena[/name_f], and [name_f]Silene[/name_f]. I feel like [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] has been gaining some traction and I could definitely see Aubrieta, [name_f]Verbena[/name_f], and [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] going up as well.
Aubrieta [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_u]Florence[/name_u] [name_f]Begonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Adrienne[/name_f] Bellis
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] [name_f]Calendula[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] Coreopsis
Cerinthe [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Keira[/name_f] Dianthus
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_u]Simone[/name_u]
[name_f]Wendy[/name_f] Echinacea
[name_u]Louise[/name_u] Gaillardia
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] Gazania
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] Godetia
Setaria [name_u]Camille[/name_u]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] Lavatera
[name_f]Verbena[/name_f] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] Nicotiana
[name_f]Silene[/name_f] [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] is the only one I can see gaining in popularity. I love [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], I think it would make a pretty combo.
I love Dianthus and [name_f]Dianella[/name_f] as a [name_f]Diana[/name_f] alternative or honour. I like the idea of [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] [name_f]Silene[/name_f] in spite of the repeating N sounds, I think they work with these two.
