Leta as middle name

[name_f]Leta[/name_f] (pronounced [name_u]LEE[/name_u]-tah) is the name of my favorite person in the whole world, my grandmother. It’s an old-fashioned but beautiful name that means joyful. I would like to use it as a middle name, but NOTHING sounds good in front of it. I was really thinking about short names like [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], but they just don’t go with [name_f]Leta[/name_f].

Any suggestions?

Could you use [name_f]Leta[/name_f] as a first name? I knew a [name_f]Lita[/name_f] once, she pronounced it the same as lee-tah. *=my personal favorite

Some ideas: [name_u]Marion[/name_u] [name_f]Leta[/name_f], [name_f]Ebony[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f], [name_f]Yasmin[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f]*, or [name_u]Julianne[/name_u] [name_f]Leta[/name_f]

[name_u]Carmen[/name_u] [name_f]Leta[/name_f], [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] [name_f]Leta[/name_f], [name_f]Emmalyn[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f], or [name_f]Adrienne[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f]

[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Leta[/name_f], [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f], [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f]*, or [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f]

[name_f]Oriana[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f], [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f], [name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f], [name_f]Jessamyn[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f]**

[name_u]Madison[/name_u] [name_f]Leta[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f], [name_f]Merilyn[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f]*(pronounced rose+marie instead of rosemary, but either could work)

I think longer name works best with [name_f]Leta[/name_f]. [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Leta[/name_f] or [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f] nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f] sound lovely, imo.

Thanks! I think you guys are right. Longer works better. And I just might start considering it as a first name!

Oh my gosh [name_f]Leta[/name_f] is so so gorgeous! Honestly I would use it in the first spot. I don’t think it sounds great with [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] or [name_f]Evie[/name_f], but only because they’re a similar length and both have an ‘‘ee’’ sounds.

It would be in my top favourites, but in the UK the -A ending and the -ER ending sound the same, so with my accent it sounds like the word Litre (Liter in US spelling). Same with the name [name_f]Leda[/name_f] (leader) :frowning: sadly

If you really want it just in the middle, you might want to look for a name without a strong ‘‘ee’’ sound or an A ending, or just something with a lot of other sounds to balance it…
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f]
[name_u]Seren[/name_u] [name_f]Leta[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f]
[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f]

You need a first name that’s at least three syllables and ends in a consonant. [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f], [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f], and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f] stood out to me from the suggestions above.

Agree. [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Leta[/name_f].
