Let's Dissect Charlotte!

I’m slowly moving through my list, deciding which names to keep, and which to axe, and settling on combos I’m really excited about and such. And now I’ve moved onto number 5, [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. I only really have one issue with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]–I’ve been without a combo for quite some time now. I never seem to find a combo I really like for [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], only one I can be happy with for short bursts of time. Generally, I mostly find vowel names appealing with her ([name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Odilia[/name_f], and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] are my latest thoughts, although they all feel rather lacklustre). In the past, I’ve had [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Olive[/name_f], etc. Any really great ideas for a full name for [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]? [name_m]Even[/name_m] though it sounds rather short, it looks long, so I naturally gravitate toward short-and-sweet names with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], too. [name_f]Jane[/name_f] (is [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] ____ [name_f]Jane[/name_f] too much [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Eyre[/name_f]/[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f]?), [name_u]Rue[/name_u]/[name_f]Ruth[/name_f], or [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] will probably be the second middle–all family names.

Also, as a more curious question than a pressing one–if you had to pick between [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f], which nn would you prefer for [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]?

Thanks, ladies!

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is one of my favorite girl names! I usually have:

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is beautiful! I don’t get any [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f]/[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Eyre[/name_f] vibes at all! [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite nickname is definitely [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], I despise [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] on a little girl and I don’t really like [name_f]Lola[/name_f].

[name_f]Glad[/name_f] to help

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is my [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] combo! I prefer [name_f]Lottie[/name_f].

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is really sweet. For me, [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] is a dominant association, so if I saw [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] ____ [name_f]Jane[/name_f], I would likely think of the novel, and I’d wonder if the parents chose the name knowing the literary association (which is fine, it’s a good association, after all), or if they chose it in ignorance (which would make the name seem a little less thought-out to me). [name_m]Just[/name_m] my take–since [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is popular, it’s probably less and less tightly linked with Ms. [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] for most people.

Largely for rhythmic reasons I’m wanting to put [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] with [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], as in [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]/[name_u]Rue[/name_u]. Or something with that emphasis. I think because [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] ends with such a hard consonant sound, I’m wanting a vowel-ending name to come next, to satisfy my sense of melody. [name_f]Odilia[/name_f] (gorgeous!) would satisfy this requirement. I’d usually be hesitant to place a “t” (or “t” sound)-ending name next to a middle that begins in a vowel, but I don’t think they blur together too much in this case.

I absolutely love [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]–one of the most adorable nicknames ever. [name_f]Lola[/name_f] is all right, just not a favorite.

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is one of those names that I have perpetually long-listed. I love the name in practice, regardless of popularity, but she just can’t crack my top ten because of all the names I love so much more in theory, if that makes sense. She is sweet and solid, though. I’m a fan.

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Adele[/name_f] has been a pretty steady fixture on my long list. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] appeared prior to [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Adele[/name_f].

Other Suggestions;
• [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f]
• [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
• [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
• [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Katrina[/name_f]
• [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
• [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
• [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
• [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Thea[/name_f]
• [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
• [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Aria[/name_f]

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is lovely but for me personally is always just edged out by sister-name [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], which feels less popular and more [name_m]Little[/name_m] House on the [name_u]Prairie[/name_u]. ([name_m]Both[/name_m] are classics and Top 100 so it’s possible I’ve lost my mind…)

I’d like something the tiniest bit quirky or old-fashioned with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] in order to pull it back from the super-popular. So many little [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] Graces exist, you know?

So my favourites at the moment would probably be:
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] - Opals have more significance to me than you probably though.
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] - I like that [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is nature-y but so classic.
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] - [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] has mythological and biblical cred but a light sound and it’s a songbird, so, yeah.

I’m also very fond of CC/Cici/[name_f]Cece[/name_f] however you want to spell it. But not sure what C name I’d double on with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] (I don’t want to repeat my [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] ones). Maybe [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Cerise[/name_f]? [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]?

I wish I saw more [name_m]Little[/name_m] House on the [name_u]Prairie[/name_u] than evil [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] Bingley, haha! Plus, I love [name_f]Lola[/name_f] and [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]. But I suppose [name_f]Lola[/name_f] could work for [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] (as easily as it could for [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], anyway!), and I love [name_f]Cara[/name_f] nearly as much as [name_f]Lottie[/name_f].

I am all for that, haha. I don’t really want a predictable or boring [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] combo. I do sort of like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f]–I like floral names for my mom–but I’m not sure that’s “it”, if that makes sense. I never seem to be able to stick with [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. I have thought about [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f], too, but I am even less convinced of [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] (even though I like [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] a lot!).

I’m not terribly fond of Ceci/Cici as a nn, but I like it more than I used to. For some reason, I like CC alliteration much better with [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] ([name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]! [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Cyrilla[/name_f]! [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f]!) than with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] (what “C” name goes with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]?!). I’ve always rather liked alliteration–just not with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] (or [name_f]Claire[/name_f]!). I tried to talk myself into [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Cyrilla[/name_f]/[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_u]Cyrille[/name_u], but I like [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_u]Cyrille[/name_u]/a so much more!
