I saw a post where a woman was narrowing her baby name list to a top 5 that she can keep. I thought this would be a great thing to do. I don’t have a name I absolutely have to have, but [name_f]Esperance[/name_f] is a long time love. I have a wide variety of taste in names from trendy like [name_u]Teegan[/name_u] to off the wall like [name_u]Dagny[/name_u] and Photini. Can you help me narrow this down to 5 names?
[name_m]Beau[/name_m] – it means Handsome.
[name_m]Christopher[/name_m] – There are tons of female versions of [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] – [name_f]Christine[/name_f], [name_f]Christina[/name_f], [name_u]Christy[/name_u], etc
[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] – He is a GOD in the Greek religion… Why not [name_f]Zephyra[/name_f] or [name_f]Zephyrine[/name_f]
Over half of the people posting on this has [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] as their top 5 which excites me! I love [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and the meaning (victory). Also, [name_f]Isis[/name_f] is in 2/4 posts as well.
[name_f]Isis[/name_f] being the [name_f]Goddess[/name_f] that [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] worshipped gives [name_f]Isis[/name_f] a real edgy feel to me; making it more interesting.
@dantea: Thanks for your long post! I love [name_u]Calypso[/name_u] more than some of the others, but I’m worried it might sound too blunt. Also the nickname [name_f]Caly[/name_f] isn’t appealing at all for me. I was kind of disappointed to see [name_u]Dagny[/name_u] as your least favorite because it’s on the same boat as [name_f]Esperance[/name_f] just about. Also, [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] was my bad. It was actually on my boy’s list and I typed it here!! However, I think [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] overthrows [name_f]Zephyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Zephyrine[/name_f] even though they are excellent names and are similar to my taste.
[name_f]Antigone[/name_f], [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], [name_u]Calypso[/name_u] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] are my four favorites.
I adore [name_u]Bay[/name_u], but prefer it as a middle name.
I love [name_f]Juno[/name_f], but not [name_f]Juna[/name_f] (not as much history), and [name_f]Zephyrine[/name_f] but not [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] (a little too masculine).
I think these five names have a lot going for them. All are feminine but strong and all will age well. They would avoid potential teasing and/or embarrassment (keep [name_m]Beau[/name_m] and [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] for future sons), dubious connections ([name_f]Circe[/name_f]) or having to spell the name over a lifetime ([name_f]Winifred[/name_f] is fine but what on earth is Wynnefreede?).
@bibliophile: [name_u]Bay[/name_u] is too short to be used as a first name, I agree! I think it would be beautiful as a middle name. Thanks for your post!
@christabel: I [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]! [name_f]Millie[/name_f] would be an excellent nickname material for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. Thanks a lot!
@mischa: Thanks for your post! I disregarded the meaning of [name_m]Beau[/name_m] and [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] is too masculine, I agree. Also, [name_f]Circe[/name_f] probably has too much of an ‘sexual’ history to actually use as a potential girl’s name. And I’m embarrassed to admit my mistake of misspelling [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]… Wynnefreede is definitely marked off my list and replaced with its correct form. From your list, [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is more than likely strictly middle name material. [name_u]Bay[/name_u] is also in the same boat. Lastly, I’m glad you’re another [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] fan. I thought I was the only one who thought this name was astonishing and ageless. I’m glad I am wrong.
[name_f]Esperance[/name_f], [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], and [name_f]Isis[/name_f] seem to be the most liked and surprisingly, these are the names I like more than the others other than [name_u]Calypso[/name_u].
