Moving on to the next “new” crush. [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] (add-eh-line) has been on my radar for years now, and I still have a combo picked out that I’m madly in love with ([name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f])–it seems like it’s always on my radar and I’m always swooning over it (especially when I see that someone else has used it!), but it seems to never make the cut (and I don’t know why!). I have felt the same way about [name_m]Linus[/name_m] for years, and I feel like this time [name_m]Linus[/name_m] is actually going to make the cut, so maybe [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] has some hope, too.
If I do keep [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], can I keep [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], too? They seem sort of matchy to me. Which goes better with the rest of my list? What sort of little person do you picture with the name [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]? And any impressions in general…
Personally, I prefer it pronounced [name_m]Add[/name_m]-ell-een (the [name_m]French[/name_m] way). [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is too similar to [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] to me, it just feels incomplete.
I picture an [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] being a sweet little girl with tons of blond curls and bright blue eyes. She’s artistic, creative and fun, always cheerful, and very bright.
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] are fine together, and it goes fine with your other names as well!
I don’t think [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] are too similar. I prefer [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] said the way you’re pronouncing it. I think the sturdiness of [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] grounds [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Emma[/name_f] fantastically. As for imagery, I see a pale, frail, and graceful girl with long, dark hair and green eyes. I picture her having a long, gentle, ballerina body.
For me, [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] are different stories at all. [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is west-european, skinny, dark-haired girl with brown eyes. [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is scandinavian or netherlandish blonde with grey-blue eyes and pale skin. Not rude, but outspoken. [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] loves cinema, [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] prefers classic opera. She’s tall and looks good in small black dress. [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] drinks wine, [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] tries to drink vodka.
I agree–I have totally different images with [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], as well. For me, [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is quiet, shy, always wanting hugs and lovies from mama. As soon as she learns to read, her head is buried in a book. She doesn’t have a lot of friends, but she has a lot of surrogate friends from the books she reads and loves. [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is still a bit shy, but still bright and sunshiney and sweet, loves to make up her own songs and dances and performs them everywhere she goes. She’s a huggy, lovey-dovey little thing, too, but not so quiet–she more shares her hugs and love than hides in mama’s hugs, if that makes sense. [name_m]Both[/name_m] have sweet, beautiful little souls. [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] loves everything purple and girly–[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] loves girly things, but she also loves superheroes and stories of saving the world, and if she were a bit more outgoing, she’d play soccer, too. [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] plays the piano–well. [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] sings her little heart out. They’re worlds apart, I feel, but I still love both images. I’m just worried with the "A"s and "D"s so close together at the beginning that they’re a bit close for sisters. But maybe not…
I like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] in theory, but I can’t get past that it just looks like [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] without the M. I also think it might be too close to [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] on your list.
I’m not sure if [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] are too close, but I do find it a bit weird that I have three -ine names on my list and all three end differently! [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] with the “in” ending, [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] with the “een” ending, and [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] with the “line” ending.
I feel like I’m leaning more toward [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] this time around, too, which is odd, since [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] feels more like my style and I love it so much! Maybe I’ll keep both for now and see what else I can eliminate.
I think [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is gorgeous and not too similar to [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] at all. I don’t relate it to [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] at all. It is it’s own gorgeous name.
