I have never met a boy [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u], but I love the name. But since I’ve never met one I can’t really tell if its dated or unpopular or anything.
What are your thoughts on [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u]? What would you expect a [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] to be like or to look like?
[name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] is pretty much a female name in [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_u]America[/name_u]. I remember a morning talk show host named [name_f]Kathie[/name_f] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] [name_m]Gifford[/name_m] talk about her children [name_u]Cody[/name_u] (male) and [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] (female) ad nauseum in the 90’s so the name feels “dated” to that period in my mind. It’s on par with names like [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] - trendy, multiple spellings and unappealing.
I absolutely love [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u], it’s a favorite. I like how it rolls off the tongue and how chilled out it sounds - much more laid back than [name_m]Cassius[/name_m] or [name_m]Cassian[/name_m].
It evokes some cowboy imagery for me, which I like, and I love nicknames [name_u]Cass[/name_u] and [name_m]Sid[/name_m] (and even [name_m]Case[/name_m] and [name_u]Casey[/name_u]).
I’ve never met a [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u], but I’d imagine one to be funny and smart - cool but also genuine and caring.
[name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] is my cousin’s name! But my cousin is a girl! She has a twin brother named [name_u]Carson[/name_u] and a big sis named [name_f]Carly[/name_f] (I’m not joking). I think [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] is lovely (as are [name_u]Carson[/name_u] and [name_f]Carly[/name_f] - just not a fan of the matchy-ness), but I can only see [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] on a girl. Maybe it’s the nn [name_f]Cassie[/name_f], and the girls names [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f], [name_f]Cassia[/name_f], but [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] is all girl.
I think if you coupled the name [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] with a firm masculine name it may work, as he may ultimately choose his middle name! i.e. [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] [name_m]Bruce[/name_m], [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] [name_m]Stone[/name_m]. [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] kind of has a Country/[name_m]Rancher[/name_m] tone so why not [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] [name_m]Clyde[/name_m]?
I have only met a female [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u], but I can imagine it on a boy. I agree that it has a [name_m]Wild[/name_m] [name_u]West[/name_u] / cowboy image and I think he would be playful, rough and tumble- a typical boy in other words. I also think he would be very gentle and sweet.
I know a guy named [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u]. He is a big guy. Tall dark and handsome type. It fits him! Unfortunately, I think in the states it’s been feminized… I know a few girls named [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u], and I think it does sound feminine. [name_u]Loren[/name_u] is another male name I like but it just too feminine now. Bummer!
Never met a [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] only associations are [name_m]Paul[/name_m] [name_m]Newman[/name_m]'s portrayal of [name_m]Butch[/name_m] [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] and Detective [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] from L&O SVU. So [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] makes me picture a handsome, rugged, charismatic man.
I know a 23 year old [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]. He’s pretty laid back, humorous, and not at all soft. While the name may lean feminine in the US, no one has ever questioned his name. I adore the name and for me it truly is completely unisex.
Couldn’t agree more! I love [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u]… In fact, that’s the name we gave our second son! We’ve had great feedback from people and at 3 months, he is the most beautiful baby. I mainly refer to him as [name_m]Cas[/name_m] because I love that as a nn, that was actually the base I started from… What longer names give the nn [name_m]Cas[/name_m], and [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] was my favourite. I also love it on a girl but it has male references for me, same as someone mentioned earlier, [name_m]Butch[/name_m] [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] and [name_m]Brian[/name_m] [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] from SVU.
I can easily imagine [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] on a boy. Then again, I’m also in an area where I meet male Taylors on a regular basis and I went to school with guys named [name_u]Courtney[/name_u], [name_u]Shelby[/name_u], and [name_u]Sidney[/name_u]. [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] has a Western rancher/cowboy vibe to me.
