I’ve (not so) recently fallen in love with the name [name_f]Marcie[/name_f]. I’m all up for the name by itself, but after looking into it more I’ve also fallen in love with [name_f]Marcella[/name_f], using the nickname [name_f]Marcie[/name_f]. The only problem I have with using the name [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] is that it’s (according to Google) a name used in [name_f]Italy[/name_f] and I do not have any Italian in me or my family whatsoever. Would that be an issue? Is [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] obviously culture-specific or could I get away with naming an English baby [name_f]Marcella[/name_f]?
To be clear, according to Nameberry it’s Latin, but on certain sites it has labelled [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] as a name used a lot in [name_f]Italy[/name_f]. Confused? Me too! …PS. If anyone could clarify whether or not [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] is actually used in [name_f]Italy[/name_f] that would be great! Since Google told me it was Italian all I can picture the name on now is an olive-skinned, dark girl.
I’ve weighed up the middle name options and come down to these for [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] and [name_f]Marcie[/name_f]:
Definitely okay. People use names from different cultures all the time ([name_f]Isabella[/name_f] - a popular one, for instance). If anything, actually, [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] reminds me of [name_f]Myrcella[/name_f] from GoT (which isn’t a bad thing necessarily.)
[name_f]Marcella[/name_f] [name_u]Carmen[/name_u] and [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] are adorable - especially with the nickname [name_f]Marcie[/name_f].
If you want to go with [name_f]Marcie[/name_f] as a first name, [name_f]Marcie[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] is by far my favourite.
I like the sound of [name_f]Marcie[/name_f] a lot (I have [name_f]Marcy[/name_f] on my own list [I like it because it looks and sounds tough]).
I think [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] is beautiful, and as @uncannie mentioned, there are plenty of Italian names that people with no Italian heritage now use by the thousands. [name_f]Marcellina[/name_f] or [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] could be other options, but it sounds like you love [name_f]Marcella[/name_f], and there’s nothing wrong with that.
I like [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] [name_u]Carmen[/name_u], [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], and [name_f]Marcie[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f].
Blah! I am Italian and think that the name is beautiful on anyone well…I guess more for dark haired girls lol! I have had a few [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] acquaintances who were Hispanic. What is the Quote…anyone? “The name becomes you” I think that is the Gist of it!
What about [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] [name_f]Bonita[/name_f]? [name_f]Bonita[/name_f]- Beautiful one.
[name_f]Marcella[/name_f] [name_m]Jordaine[/name_m]
[name_f]Marcella[/name_f] Genay
I’ve stuck with [name_f]Marcie[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] as the combo for [name_f]Marcie[/name_f], unsure on [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] though (leaning more towards [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]!).
